Cardinals cornerback Antrel Rolle has had more knee surgeries (two) than interceptions (one) in his NFL career.
Rolle, the eighth overall pick in the 2005 draft, underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday to remove scare tissue in his left knee, team officials confirmed Thursday.
It's the same knee on which Rolle had surgery in October, and the injury limited him to playing in only five games.
The Cardinals are hoping that Rolle will be ready for the start of training camp July 30.
"I think we're real optimistic that it's going to do well," coach Dennis Green said. "I think you kind of get to the root of the issue, and that's what the scar tissue was."
It's troubling, however, that Rolle has been battling the knee problem since September. During a recent minicamp, he experienced swelling after working out on the side with the medical staff. Rolle, who played at the University of Miami, returned home to Florida, where Dr. John Uribe performed the surgery.
It doesn't appear likely that Rolle will participate in voluntary team practices in June.
