CB's Cromartie & Marshall (1 Viewer)

Looking for some info about how much playing time Cromartie CB, SD and Marshall CB, CAR are getting. Are they starting yet, nickel packages or what? Both have had a some good games this season and are really looking like top quality CB's but both teams depth charts have them listed as backups.

In San Diego, Jammer and Florence started on Sunday (as usual), with Cromartie playing in nickel situations.

Cromartie should start over Florence soon enough, though. Florence has gotten burned a number of times this year, and he made another dumb penalty yesterday (cheap shot on Schaub).

I've read Acee has reported Jammer's groin injury "appears to be minor".Week 9 opponent is MIN which is a non-conference opponent and ranked 28th in passing offense possibly starting their 3rd string QB(Bollinger) or an injured Jackson. Do you think there's any chance they rest Jammer to ensure he's 100% going into week 10 vs INDY???? Worst case scenario they are going to need Cromartie to play well in that game vs INDY. He's got to get some playing time. Seems like as good a time to give him playing time as any now they are tied for first place in the division.

Is Cromartie going to return kicks also, especially after that return? You'd think they might give him more chances to return kicks with that record setting play.

Sproles has been doing that really well this year. Better than in the past imo.Add to that Jammer played and may have re-injured his hamstring so Cromartie may be a starting CB I doubt they'll risk him as a KR right now.BTW I sure am glad SD rushed Jammer back for the non-conference game. Now Jammer has re-injured that hammy going into the INDY game. Genius.

As of the 1st quarter of the INDY game I'd like to change my answer to a simple; "NO".

Turns out rushing back Jammer from that injury and forcing Cromartie into the lineup may have been the best move of the season.

So what will Cromartie's role be after Jammer comes back?
I can't see Cromartie giving up his starting role at this point. I'd expect Florence to move to the nickel when Jammer comes back. The guys on Edge NFL Matchup last week said that the completion percentage for passes directed at Florence's guy this year is 85%. That seems too high to be true, but either way, Florence has not had a good season.
