CBS sportsline: Free fantasy football? (1 Viewer)

without looking, i'd guess ability to customize. maybe live stats; yahoo and espn both charge extra for live stats. fyi foxsports and nfl.com also have free leagues.

AOL has free leagues too. The AOL leagues are powered by Fanball. We had some troubles doing a live draft and the live scoring had a few glitches at first, but overall it was pretty good for being free.

what is the difference between this and the leagues that they charge over $100 for. Anyone?
Looks like CBS Sportsline is resorting back to what it did back in about 2000-2001 where it had a ton of free leagues, and then some pay leagues. Come about 2002 or so, they did away with the free leagues and were strictly pay leagues. My guess is that they lost a good number of people, and are trying to reel in some new people again and get them interested in CBS Sportsline, and maybe try out a pay league sometime. Decent advertising ploy...

this appears to be for public leagues only and no $ to be won

If you want the best of customizability and being free, AOL is the way to go. It's basically the $60 Fanball package (customizable scoring, rosters, polls, message boards, live scoring, postable images, etc, etc.) for free.Sort of slow and clunky sometimes, but what are you going to do? Look in the gift horse's mouth?

I don't know, but just spent $260 bucks for the 2 leagues I commish!
From the CBS site...Q: What is the difference between the Fantasy Football 2006 game and the Football Commissioner product?

A: If you want to create a fantasy football league for a group of your friends, Football Commissioner lets you set up and run the league to your exact specifications. Acting as the league commissioner you can customize the scoring system, the rules, and the schedule based on your wants and needs. In Fantasy Football 2006, you can own a team in an already existing league and compete against other users. For these leagues, we act as commissioner and set all the rules for you. You simply manage your team and try to beat the rest of the league.

Asking seriously and not meaning to hijack... what is it about CBS for you in particular that makes it worth spending twice on your leagues what you would pay on a site like MFL or RTS?
Have used CBS for a while and we split the site cost b/w all owners. When you're putting in $100 for the league, what's another $15?
