CBS Sportsline (1 Viewer)

Here's their most recent nugget.......

Bush to Score Again in Week 7?

The Saints visit Miami in Week 7, and New Orleans RB Reggie Bush will be looking to score for a second straight game. Miami has allowed only four rushing scores this season though and ranks third against the run.

Who knew? Seriously, how does this pass for journalism?

Another gem.....

F. Jackson Seeking First End Zone Trip

Fred Jackson will take on the Panthers in Week 7 as he looks for his first rushing touchdown of the season. Carolina ranks a woeful 29th against the run this season

Again, this is info you wont find anywhere else. I had NO IDEA Fred Jackson was looking to score. I figured he was content to pickup 30-40 yards/game with no thought of ever scoring. Good to know. :goodposting:

I think if you're expecting fantasy relevant journalism from a mainstream site you need to just focus on the NFL news. The fantasy 'news' from the mainstream media is just crap, IMO.

A lot of fantasy news that's out there is pretty lame imo, but CBSsportsline has got to be one of the worst. Just a lot of nonsense imo.

I don't understand your gripe. Either your not getting the desired message or your being obtuse.

It is clear to me that the point of the first example is not to inform the reader that the Reggie Bush has a desire to score, it is that he scored last week. Which gives the reader a sense that Reggie Bush has recently scored a touchdown which can be interpreted that he is being used in scoring situations and may be a good option this week.

It is clear to me that the point of the second example is not to inform the reader that the Fred Jackson has a desire to score this week, it is to inform the reader that Jackson has not yet scored a rushing touchdown this season. Which gives the reader an opportunity to exercise caution.

I actually think its good writing giving the uninformed reader more information with which to make a decision. The majority of the people relying on this information need it. Not the normal sharkpool contributor.

I don't know much about CBS FF writers, but I know from experience their Fantasy Baseball writers are pretty bad. Lame information is one thing, but flat out wrong information is another.

Be thankful. Many of us use that site. Do you really want the lazy owners in your league to have useful information?

I, on more than one occasion, have thought to myself "I hope my leaguemates are reading this" when reading CBSSportsline analysis.

---"The Boston Globe reports that Patriots RB Sammy Morris did not travel with the team to London and thus is not expected to play in their Week 7 game vs. Tampa Bay."

Just because Morris did not make the trip, they went out on the limb and suggested he is not expected to play. Forget it, I am starting him!

on Tyvon Branch:

"Branch is the team's starting safety and has had useful tackle totals in two of the team's first four games. However, he remains just a low-end option in IDP formats."

Branch leads all DBs with 35 tackles.

:wall:

This is like the 15th thread started bashing CBS Sportsline fantasy news. While I agree that the information is hardly useful for an informed reader such as yourself, most of the time it is decent enough for the casual fantasy football player to make semi decent lineup decisions. My point is that the two examples you sited are not really in a class that deserves its own CBS bash thread. Why don't you use the query function and hop on board one of the other CBS bash threads or bring a bigger misgiving to the table.

But way to go letting us all know that you think CBS Fantasy news is below par. Ground breaking stuff.

Guess I'll have to be more careful about starting threads. The absolute last thing I want to do is offend you. My deepest regrets for having the gall to start a thread bashing (or probably better stated "mocking") Sportsline.Edited to add: Looked back a couple of months and found ZERO threads specifically bashing the CBS Sportsline content. Many complaining about the site being down, asking how to use waivers, and other various issues.
