It was probably higher immediately after he was drafted 4th overall in the NFL draft.

Not to be nitpicky, but the offseason before last year, he was going in the 2nd/3rd round of startup dynasty drafts, after Jones was shipped off to NYJ.I have been impressed with Benson. He isn't a worldbeating talent, obviously, but he has proven serviceable. The problem is that Cinci will not be winning much moving forward, abandoning the run early on.

There are quite a few reasons to not bank on Benson, but the last three weeks he has scored 6, 7 and 17 points in our standard scoring league. This is on a sucky team with no QB and no observable leadership from management...With the possibility of a new coaching staff next year, his dynasty prospects still leave a lot to be desired. However, he is touching the ball, and in my league that makes you golden. Next year is gravy for any astute dynasty owner that may have picked him up.Even in one of my leagues where I have Westbrook and Jackson, he warrants consideration with their injuries and such.

I hope so too, but he only signed a 1 year deal. We'll see what they do about that.

Jaguars defense is very overrated so I wouldn't put too much stock in Benson performing well against them. He's definitely getting the opportunity to perform so we'll see what happens.

While I agree about the Jags being overrated, it's still hard to overlook just what he did today. Having just perused the schedule, I see that Cinn. gets to face Houston next week. I have already decided that he starts for me.

Even with Fitzpatrick in he managed to get over 100. and i dont think he fumbled. He has taken over for perry and even caught a few passes. If he puts together some solid games going forward they will have to resign him. At least I hope so, want to keep him as an option for next year....
Thanks to the hurricane moving houston's and balts bye week to week 2. The schedule was redone so cinci is off and balt plays houston.and damn it, i started Fred Taylor over Bensen thinking the roles would be reversed!

It's kinda reminiscent of Garrison Hearst signing mid-season with the Bengals after flopping mightily with his first team. I'm not saying Benson will go on to tear it up over the remainder of his career like Hearst did, by any stretch of the imagination. Just an interesting bit of potential deja vu.

Benson has never been as bad as he has been made out to be. He actually ran really well against Sea and Denver last year before he got injured and was done. Also, the off-season stuff was way overblown as always. He was acquitted in court for the BUI. I wish the Bears had kept him. A combo of Forte and Benson would have been awesome to wear down defenses down the line when the weather gets worse. I picked him up in one my dynasty leagues during our draft this year because someone just dropped him. I am now reaping the rewards. When Palmer comes back next year and is healthy, and the Bengals improve their OL some in the off-season, you will see Benson produce well as a FF RB going forward.

I benched him for Moore. If I had started him, I would have won my matchup by 1 point. I'm still not sold on Benson, but this latest outing makes it more tempting to plug him in as a #2 with the right matchup.I started Benson the last 3 weeks with Parker being hurt...Naturally I benched him for Parker this week

The Bears had to let him go cause he was effecting the chemistry of the team. He was a downer. I think Benson simply needed a change of scenery.

It'd be nice to see Benson finally shine as a legit starting RB in the NFL. But I'm still hesitant to believe we're witnessing a full-blown Ressurection. He showed signs of life many times in Chicago, only to disappear for weeks at a time. Ne was never able to string together enough solid games to make him worthy of what little hype surrounded him. Time will tell, but I'm not sold on him yet.

I picked him - why not take the risk. It seems he has a lot to play for with just a 1 year deal - he is auditioning for a contract and that is generally a motivating factor. There is no doubt that Benson has talent - but the same could be said for another Texas RB who has had a colorful career.
If Benson stays healthy the remainder of the year and puts up solid numbers without becoming a distraction or doing something crazy off the field then he will land a job with someone. Maybe his personality with fit right in with the Bengals - I would love to hear a conversation between Chad and Ced......

I cannot speak for Jeff or Sigmund, but I want to see more. Benson signed a one-year deal, so he has a good chance to be elsewhere next year. I am open-minded to his upside. Benson is only 25 and could still make a difference.

It's a top 60 listing. Not that I'm expecting top 30 or anything, but 60 is pretty deep.
Got a few fullbacks listed, Caddy who may not play again and wasn't doing so well before he got hurt, a guy on the IR that's a 3rd stringer, and couple other old guys that are on the IR. All listed over Benson. Just saying...

Again, it's most definitely an oversight, not an intentional decision to leave him out of the top 60. Those dynasty rankings are not updated by many FBGs and are not super reliable, and it's likely he was accidentally just left off.
Benson will be in my top 60 when I update my rankings.

Other than perhaps Bloom - likely - I'd take Chris' (F&L) dynasty rankings over the FBG Dynasty rankings from the paid content any day.I think it is utterly insane that a 25 year-old STARTING running back playing on a one year deal on an admittedly moribund franchise, who was drafted #4 OVERALL after a stellar NCAA career at Texas can't crack a top 60 dynasty list of so called experts. Sorry guys. I respect the heck out of the Jeffs, but Benson's omission at this stage from a list of 60 RBs is ridiculous.
FYI - I am not a Benson sympathizer. At all.
ETA: I went and looked at the list after typing my comments above to see where I'd personally slot Benson on that list. Without naming names, I can safely say at this stage of the season barring only injury, I'd take Benson over ANYONE and including from #35 on down. Thus, I guess I just ranked him #35 on "The U's Top 60 Dynasty RB Rankings" - LOL.

Well Otis, A) until they do, it's a poor list - this is part of the PAID content and B) Jeff T said himself just above he needs to "see more", which is fine. That's Jeff's opinion and I respect it. I personally do not need to see more however. As just an example, I see no value in a guy like Selvin Young - whatsoever; yet he appears on that list in a spot where I feel Benson could be.Your BOLD argument or defense of the guys holds no water. These are experts per what the industry deems an expert; i.e. someone who is paid for their valued opinion on content they deliver to an audience. Are you seriously telling me it's acceptable to look at an 'outdated' list, make a few swaps up and down that list and call it "new content"? Paid at that? Sorry. I'm not buying what you're selling. I'm a mild mannered dude, and as stated, respect ALL three dynasty rankers' work on this site, and have for years prior to their becoming staff, but this is a me overreacting to what I've considered less than stellar dynasty content - and all I care about is regularly updated rankings -all season long. This has never been the case in years past and I know I am not the only person who's noticed that. It's been pointed out countless times this season in the Shark Pool.

I think you're missing my point. If you want to criticize their diligence, that's fine, but I wasn't speaking to that. I just think it's hilarious that people are in here going OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS BENSON ISNT EVEN IN THE TOP 60 OMG THESE RANKINGS SUCK. It obviously wasn't a choice they made to specifically include him -- it's clear to anyone who pays attention and thinks any of this stuff through at all that they aren't purposely saying the guy is not in the top 60, he just slipped out of the rankings. You want to remind them to include him? Fine, that makes perfect sense to me. But repeatedly people in the SP have seemed to suggest that they think it's a "crazy" ranking to put him outside the top 60, when it's far more likely that it was just an oversight.

Rankings are always fun to debate. I believe 100% of the FBG staff has Fred Taylor dynasty ranked in the mid 40's (on average) and no sign of Ced Benson..so it's legit to bring it up. That said, I think the staff does an amazing job!
