Why not? Knucklehead factor? His past history does not help his chances, but why such a good year so far?
I am one of those looking to buy in my dynasty league, but it looks like it is going to cost me an early pick in 2011. The pick will most likely be in the 1.1-1.4 range. He's 26 with not a huge amount of mileage on his tires. He is not just a body to slam into the defense and get 3-4 yards here and there. He is running with power and his moves are looking pretty explosive. He is now showing what he should have been when he was drafted #4 overall and the Bengals are lucky they didn't have to deal with the knucklehead part of his early NFL career. How much of a threat will Bernard Scott turn in to in the future? And how healthy will Benson stay are the two keys to whether or not he will be resigned and be a more talented Rudi Johnson for the next 5+ years. With that said I'm trying to sell him in my PPR dynasty, but until people start seeing the future potential value (which no one in my league is) in him he is a hold in dynasty I feel.
I agree. The Bengals have been such a mess for so long, you never know what will happen. At least they will not have an early first next year and their coach is safe so far.opinions on players seem to be slow to change sometimes. we all remember "Fragile Freddy" don't we? Benson is close to "stud" category for now but how long it lasts is the million dollar question.
And, ironically, kept Benson on the bench in Chicago. The only RB I can think of that was a high first round bust that had sustained success elsewhere was Thomas Jones.
The Bears are to under performing running backs as the Redskins are to winless teams. The only RB I can think of that was a high first round bust that had sustained success elsewhere was Thomas Jones. Go Bears!
I disagree. I haven't seen too much of him this year, but did watch him vs. the Packers a few weeks ago. He looked like a man amongst boys in that game. The moves, speed, power combination he displayed was impressive.I read in another thread that there are rumors from his hometown this off-season that he declared to many that he smoked away millions of dollars already. He was going to stop smoking pot, rededicate himself to football and see if he can get some of those millions back. It makes a lot of sense if you connect all the dots, as he looks a lot like his early Texas days where he was pretty dominant (when he was motivated and more than likely not a regular pot user)He is doing well because he is getting great holes but he doesn't look special to me. He doesn't have great burst or speed.
not trying to slam ya, but that can be said for about any Rb. offer me Portis even up for him, or Lynch, and see if I take it. things change faster now in the NFL, especially at RB. who is more talented, Portis or Benson? it's about more than just the Rb himself now a days, IMO.I think he can do well for next couples of years provided the O-Line remains in tact and that Palmer and those receivers remain in tact.Let's be honest here. Without Palmer threating the defenses with the pass, Benson would be shutout completely. Palmer is keeping drives alive by converting on 3rd and short to medium.
I have to disagree with this. I've watched him extensively this year and he is running with great power. It's not just "great holes" that are the reason for his success, he is actually a very good runningback right now.He is doing well because he is getting great holes but he doesn't look special to me. He doesn't have great burst or speed and so he won't break many big runs.
You can't argue with his production but I'm curious how manny touches is is getting per game and can he keep up that pace? (I'm assuming that his touches are rather high)This is not a fluke...check his stats from the last 7-8 games last year. He has been averaging in the neighborhood of 80-100 yards with about 2 TDs every 3 games (actually a little higher),If you add those games to the ones this year...I think he is on a 14-15 game run.
