Cedric Benson (1 Viewer)

I'm curious what other Benson owners are doing with him the rest of the season in redraft leagues. I drafted him as good value for a RB2 on a gamble that all the preseason hype of Scott was unwarranted. So far I have been rewarded with unspectacular, but consistent points week in and week out. He has some really high games coming up and some really low games to be worried about, particularly in the playoff weeks.

9 - PIT (1st)

10 - @IND (28th)

11 - BUF (32nd)

12 - @NYJ (4th)

13 - NO (16th)

14 - @PIT (1st)

15 - CLE (19th)

16 - SDG (2nd)

17 - @BAL (17th)

Will you keep plugging him in as a good RB2/RB3 while he is consistently getting 20 touches a game or are you looking to move him, and for what price?

I don't like him against the Jets in week 12, or this week either. If you have him on a team fighting to get into the fantasy playoffs, that makes at least 2 weeks of predictable poor performance. Not to mention Indy could be getting their act together and force Cincy to pass a lot if the Colts get a big lead. New Orleans could be the same way and playing lights out. It spells trouble for the games leading into the fantasy playoffs for someone in a tight battle.

The problem I'm running into is that Benson's value isn't that high. He has been steady but far from spectacular this season. I'm having a hard time getting more than WR2/3 value out of him. In my opinion that makes him a hold. Based on the reasons listed above he's available if the right deal comes along.

I have tried to include him in 2 different trades and both times I was told that the other owner had no interest in including him, even when I said I'd take Felix Jones or JStew in return...I shopped him around a bit and the only thing nibble I got in return was an offer for Kevin Walter straight up. I'm gonna hold him, and debate over whether or not to use him or Blount as my RB2 each week. Just can't seem to get any value for him in my league...

There always seems to be a small group of players that produce well at the #2 level of their position but don't get much respect on the trading-block. Derrick Mason immediately comes to mind as a good example from the past 5+ years. I guess Benson might fall into this group now. For where I got him in the draft, I'm pleased with his production and guess I will be carrying him the rest of the year.

look at that schedule again. after pit he has two CREAMPUFFS. He should put up big #'s there. THEN sell him...

If you have a village idiot in your league who ignores the Jets game follows those two creampuffs...not to mention trade deadlines are coming up quick.Echo what others have said - this season he was a hold in virtually all redraft leagues because of lack of recognition/respect. If you can't get value, just roll him out every week and accept the steady production.

no just has to do with perception of value.after a few games it will be much higher. Not everyone checks down the road matchups as much as you.

I've decided to hold him for now just because I don't want him blowing up on another team's roster. I'll probably keep him out of the lineup this weekend because I have viable fill-ins, but we'll see what happens in the next 3 weeks.

His perceived value < actual value (especially in dynasty leagues, as he is still only 27).

At this point, it is probably better to keep him (especially if your league/team has week 14 byes for division winners, as mine do). He has some nice matchups down the stretch and a nice week 15 matchup to launch you into your championship game.

He's a solid #2 value, with #1 upside in certain weeks. I'm holding and riding him into the playoffs.

Traded him for Welker straight up. I needed more flexibility at WR. SJax and McFadden are my starters. I would have had no problem holding him as insurance given the injury history of my RB's.
