Chad Jackson - NEP WR. (1 Viewer)

I did a search and couldn't really find anything lately, unless I missed something.

I'm curious as to what the board is thinking about this guy. I'm kind of intrigued at the prospect of him playing on the Pats down the stretch when they usually play really good ball...and this year have a decent passing schedule.

I've seen 3 Pats games so far this year and to this point Gabriel, while getting a lot of looks, hasn't really stood out as a "go to" WR. Jackson is young and talented. With so many potential targets in NE any part of that receiving corps (inc. TE) is a gamble. But in deep leagues does anyone else see Jackson as a sleeper down the stretch as I do?

I've currently have one trade offer where I'm including Jackson as the veritable "sneaky throw-in" player. Hoping to steal him while his value is low. I also picked him up in another league off the WW.

There is a some mystery about Jax right now. He's had a lingering injury (he missed almost all of camp) that has slowed his development. Yet, there has also been some "read between the lines" rumors that he is either having trouble picking up the offense or isn't on the same page as the coaching staff. There's nothing to confirm this but I have seen it insinuated many times by Patriot insiders like Michael Felger of the Boston Herald.

From a pure talent standpoint you can tell right away (even in very limited action) that he has some solid physical tools. If his head is on straight and he works hard I definetly see him becoming more of a factor as the season goes on. Yet, as far as this year is concerned I'm not too confident he'll be much of a fantasy factor. A rookie WR who's missed all of camp and plays on a team that spreads the ball around is not a great equation for fantasy success. Look for him to be more effective in real football rather than fantasy football.

As far as Gabriel goes all signs point to him being the Pats #1 WR. He looked really good the second half of the Denver game and it continued against Cincy. He appears to be getting in sync with Brady and he has a nice size and speed combo. If you're looking to get a Patriot WR, he's the one to go after.

If he isn't healthy enough for camp+practice his development is largely negatively impacted.

Chad Jackson, WR NENews: Patriots rookie WR Chad Jackson has been slowed by a hamstring injury, but has moved into the starting lineup alongside WR Doug Gabriel. The Patriots believe Jackson will blossom into their best receiver.Analysis: Fantasy owners should consider Jackson an eventual waiver-wire addition and a must-own in deeper dynasty leagues. Eventually, he should develop into a quality contributor for the Patriots, though that may not materialize until 2007.

this was brought up in a thread earlier this week. Again, my concern is not having a "money" WR unless they wheel out old man Troy Brown more. No one on the Pats seems a lock to get every pass.I understand it's not truly a lock but that feeling...we don't have that guy. If any WR plays as such, I would pickup a Pats WR in FF for the first time in years. Brady sorely needs that.

It's tough to wade through all the usual mud-slinging around here from the likes of Borges and Cafardo and get to the truth. Ever since he got his own radio show, even Felger has started being overly critical of the team, seemingly only for the sake of taking the contrarian point of view. I don't read anything into the Jackson rumors at this point, because I think it's just another case of these media guys not getting as much information as they'd like (or not liking or believing the information they've been given), so they just make up their own rumors so they'll have something to talk about, then just leave it up to the Patriots to publicly confirm/deny those rumors. Another perfect recent example of this was the Randy Moss nonsense. As far as "Patriot insiders" go, only Mike Reiss has been ahead of the curve often enough and supplied enough good information over the past few years to be considered a real insider, in my opinion. The rest of these talking heads around here would like you to believe that they have more information and know more about the team than you or I, but they don't really come forth with much of anything to back that up.
