Chad Johnson being investigated for fraud (1 Viewer)

so say he is found guilty...what's the worst action that the nfl would take? can they really suspend him for doing something stupid like this?
Yeah, I hadn't thought about the other, petty end of the spectrum w/ the 3 suspensions handed out. My guess is that if illegal or even concidered unethical, this would probably be a fine, if anything. I wonder if we may start seeing minor suspensions as well. Something like the college "skipping class" or "not turning in homework" type of 1/4 suspensions, or the "minor in posession" 1/2 game suspensions?

I would think fraud, attempting to defraud, or a charge similiar would be classified as "conduct detrimental to the league" and therefore be subject to penalty...up to and including game suspensions.

I hope he doesn't get suspended. I'm a CJ fan... both of his antics, and of his being oVVned by the Pittsburgh secondary throughout his career.
47-763-2 in 10 regular season games against the Steelers is hardly getting owned.
Career #s vs. Pittsburgh :13 games, 54 rec. 840 yds, 2 TDs.Career averages : 5.1 rec, 75.3 yds, .45 TDs per gameCareer vs. Steelers : 4.1 rec, 64.6 yds, .15 TDs per game. That's a 20% dropoff in receptions, 14% in yards, and 67% in TDs per game.ETA : Johnson was WR4 last year by FBG #s. His career averages vs. Pittsburgh extrapolated to 16 games would have put him at WR30, just below Eddie Kennison.Ocho Cinqo = :lmao:
Oh, so you are going to count his '01 numbers (which I admittedly forgot about), back when he was a rookie and barely played? Um, yeah, okay. Your comparison is absurd. You are taking his career numbers into account as a whole, and then comparing it to how he would stack up against the 2006 field. That is a ludicrous comparison. Let's face it, except for his rookie season, and the first game last year, Johnson has done a good job against the Steelers. No, he has not lit them up, but he has not been owned, either. Oh, and CJ's extrapolated numbers you were talking about still would have given more him more yards than Hines Ward had last year. ;)
First, he had 7 catches for 77 yards in 2 games vs. Pitt in 2001, which isn't skewing the numbers that much. Even if you leave that out, the stats you posted of his in "10 regular season games" were actually his totals from 10 regular season and 1 playoff game.Putting his career numbers in a fantasy context was simply meant to illustrate how average he's been vs. the Steelers as opposed to the remainder of the league. And I never said Ward had a great season last year. All I said was that Johnson has been oVVned by the Steelers secondary. And he has. 2 TDs in 13 games? I call that being shut down. :lmao:

Chad did have a couple huge games vs the Steelers early in his career. His last 7 games, going back through '03 -- including the playoff games, he has25-408-1 vs Pgh.Thats 3.6 catches, 58 yards, and .14TD per gameOf course, the argument exists that he sucks up the DC so that douchemanzilly can blow up, which may have a point.....But CJ has not done much at all lately v Pittsburgh.
Precisely. Every game he talks about his new end-zone celebration he has cooked up for Pittsburgh and every game he has to keep it on the shelf.

You know what they say: you can take the thug out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the thug!
When was CJ a thug? What hood? You know what they say, some people make moronic statements on message boards.
So, according to bcr8f, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and acts like a duck....it must be a rooster!
That isn't what I said. I said what hood? You guys assume because a guy is black he came from the ghetto without ever checking.
Are you saying that all black people don't come from "the Hood"?

Umm, that seems like a rewording of an old racist saying... you just substituted thug and hood for the "n" word and jungle.
What is this nonsense? No pissing in the shark pool with this liberal spew.....
You might not like it, but he's right that 1) there is an old saying just as he described, and 2) the "update" offered is still pretty offensive. Don't have to "spew liberal" to dislike this kind of talk on this board or anywhere else.

come on.....this PC crap is so overdone......you can take the blank out of the blank but you can't take the blank out of the blank......it's not a racial thing. It just means people are who they are. At some point no matter how their life changes they will still be that same person.

Can we please get back on point of this thread, which is Chad Johnson's path to the pokey? Take all your social commentary to the FFA. or jam it up yer bottom. I don't care which.

You can take the message board poster out of Kentucky, but you can't take the Kentucky out of the message board poster.

ok...I did my checking. CJ did NOT come from the ghetto. He was quite "pampered" as a youngster and very academically inclined: http://www.bme.gatech.edu/groups/galis/c_john.htm :bye:

Are you saying that all black people don't come from "the Hood"?
The "Hood" is defined as a neighborhood, usually in the inner city. Are you saying he didn't grow up in a city? I believe he did in Miami. And, from what I can tell from his photo, he is "black." Also - if I am a Mexican, I can't refer to my hometown as "my Hood?" What if I am Puerto Rican? What if I am Caucasian? I don't come from a Hood? Isn't "Hood" just short for neighborhood? It's always the most racist people that pull this crap out of their ###, when they have no other place to go. :excited:

In all seriousness, from what I have read from this story, he took money for tickets and never intended to deliver the "prizes." Regardless: this doesn't look good and his cocky attitude and demeanor don't help. If it was someone like Marvin Harrison, Reggie Bush, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning this wouldn't be such an issue. The fact he is apart of the most Criminally-Friendly team, I mean, c'mon!

If that makes any sense.....
