Chad Johnson Long Term Outlook (1 Viewer)

I'm curious about people's opinions of #85 from here on out. Is he winding down?

I haven't had the chance to see him play in person much this year, but his inconsistency is troubling.

He's one of the top WRs in the game and a lock for about 1,300 and 8 every year. He's $$$ and should continue to be so for several years.

There's more than a handful of WRs that I'd draft ahead of him for next season.

Wayne

A Johnson

Edwards

Moss

Jennings depending on QB situation

Fitz

Owens

Colston

Marshall

That being said, as a Palmer/Johnson owner who hasn't watched more than 3 games on TV and could care less about the Bengals otherwise, my impressions are there are only 2 other QBs who could actually improve that offense all things considered.

This team needs a defense that can take the pressure off the offense to score, and inevitably, I'm sure shake off whatever cloud looms in that lockerroom after every game.

Winning cures all.

Just desserts for the most selfish self promoter in the league ... the "Future HoF" has a long ways to go before he is Canton bound.

it's the Cincy offense - namely, Palmer - that is to blame for the inconsistency this year.
I agree to some extent. Palmer hasn't been himself this year, but the lack of a consistent, viable running game has hurt the offense quite a bit IMO. To be sure, Housh has thrived and a terrific receiver in his own right, but probably, in part, reflects him consistently beating one-on-one coverage while defenses are blanketing Chad. In past years, Chad, Housh and the 3rd WR (Henry or Kelley Washington) were all able to put up numbers since there was enough passing yards to go around. This year, not so much, with Housh, as mentioned, obviously benefiting the most.

I think a large part of the problem stems from the O-line. Their line was bad which led to their running game and pass protection being bad. Palmer is a pocket passer and if he doesn't have time to deliver the ball he's not going to be a top QB.

The fact that their defense is horrendous and Chris Henry was out for 1/2 year didn't help either. Give Palmer some time to let the guys get downfield and step into his throws and this is all a moot point. Johnson is still a very good wr.
