Chad Johnson owners support group (1 Viewer)

I realize he has upside and has been a Stud (3 years ago) but I had to cut him. He was killing my team. Anyone else cut him? and if so did you lose any sleep over it?

I lucked out and found an owner who was weak at WR and this Bye was hurting him bad. He had Eli on the bench behing Peyton so I was able to land Eli for Chad. (of note: he would have had to drop a decent player for a bye week filler anyhow, so that is probably why the other owner took the deal)

I fully expect Carson to be IR'd in the next couple weeks. If you can get anything at all, do it. In a related note, I would sell TJ while (if?) there is some value.

Holding. No way to get anything of value for him now.
I agree with this. No way do I sell low but I am in a different position than others. I have great WRs so I am just waiting - more like hoping - for one of his big weeks so I can move him.

Your league should reward you for cutting your losses. I guarantee you 9 out of 10 owners will hold him all season long.

I expect Carson to be shut down for the season soon. Last week would of been the week to promote Chad (CARSON's RETURNING!!), but I would of sent an offer to each owner in the league, if no bites, permabench him or cut outright.

Packaged him together with Chris Perry (just after Rudi left town in mid-Sept) and got meself Steve Smith.

This is my strategy in both leagues to this point. If he does nothing this week, I am placing him on the "trade block" in one league and putting out multiple offers with him included in the other.(Yes, I own him in 2 of 3 leagues.)

If I've done this correctly, Johnson has had some success against the Steelers in the passt. Granted, things are extremely different, but these stats are intriguing:

9 Chad Johnson wr 2002 22 14 223 15.93 9 0 22.30

10 Chad Johnson wr 2003 16 10 194 19.40 9 1 25.40

11 Chad Johnson wr 2004 10 5 80 16.00 3 1 14.00

12 Chad Johnson wr 2005 19 9 148 16.44 6 0 14.80

13 Chad Johnson wr 2006 8 5 64 12.80 3 0 6.40

14 Chad Johnson wr 2007 24 11 137 12.45 7 0 14.10

incredible. ocho has no trade value, and i'm using him as my WR5 at this point, even below anthony gonzalez in terms of preference.

He's bad, but he's not a cut. He could explode at any point. See, e.g., Braylon Edwards.
This is my dilemma - sit him for a more consistent WR and take the chance for him to erupt on my bench. So frustrating.
I started Braylon this week and he won the game for me on MNF by 0.5 pts. If I bench him I lose. You never know when a sleeping stud will wake up.

D@mn you, Otis. Making it increasingly hard to sit Chad.

Just unloaded 85 for Tony Gonzalez in one league. My current TE is Owen Daniels, so I think I improved while giving up nothing.

In my other league I put him on the block and the only offers I got back were for Michael Bush or D.J. Hackett. I placed a waiver claim on Rhodes and Derek Anderson (Palmer owner). If I get either one, old Ocho Cinco is going on the WW.

I am cutting the cord!

I just traded for him. I sent a song and a dance over. He can sit on my bench and fill in bye weeks, or take over WR3 if he does well.

If you have better options, by all means. He has been absolutely horrible. Just don't be surprised when he goes for 150 and 2 on your bench.

Haha. I have good WRs with Fitz, Marshall, and Colston, but with Fitz on a bye I think I'm starting Chad.

traded for him two weeks ago for Warner in a keeper league

I had Cutler and didnt see a use for Warner unless for a bye/injury and was weak at WR

Still know Chad has value in a keeper wile Kurt is likely to retire in a year

His value right now sux so wont get much for him. I own him in a keeper so im sucking it up this yr and hoping for the best next season.

The overall offensive situation in cleveland looks a lot brighter than in cinci, thus the comparision to Braylon is not a good one. Cinci is just one big bundle of mess. Ocho is now claiming his production is dropping as a punishment to his trade demands. There is absolute dissension amongst those ranks, the coach has no control, their run game is garbage, their stud qb might be done for the year, etcetcetc the list goes on and on and on. Holding onto ocho is not much of an option at this stage, let alone starting him. Cut losses...

while you're at it, cut chris perry too. And as someone stated before, trade TJ for whatever you can get for him now, before his value goes to zero as well...

Traded him for Berrian. He was my 4/5 WR anyway.

With Owens, and ROY I needed someone without a week 10 bye week. (Chad was week 10 as well)

Traded him for Fatboy. I needed the help at RB for by weeks and Chad has killed me this season. So much for my 4th round pick paying off.

He's gone...

I traded him for Trent Edwards....my backup for J. Cutler...

I needed an insurance policy for Cutler rather than deadwood for my lineup.

Not exactly what happened, but he was a huge lift this week for me in my PPR league getting 8/52/1. I think he could be a decent play this week against Houston. Anyone else rolling the dice?

I am strongly considering it. I think the fact that his two best games so far this season have been with Fitzpatrick actually makes CJ a bit more promising now than he was a couple of weeks ago.

8 for 52 doesn't make me warm and happy. Good for fantasy but just tells me the Bengals got far behind and the Steelers were letting them have the dinks and dunks.

I know what you mean but hey, points in garbage time = points in crunch time. I didn't get to see the game so I was wondering how he looked? Was he targeted at all down the field? I'm rolling the dice again this week with bye issues.

7 of his catches were when the Bengals were within 10 points. The Steelers didn't run away with the score until the 4th quarter when CJ got 4 targets for 1 catch.

I don't recall him getting any deep passes. It seems they finally realized the offensive line won't hold up that long and they were getting him involved with short and intermediate routes.

In my opinion that's a promising sign of things to come.

He had a couple deep targets (one in the 3rd and one in the 4th I believe).

This is good info - thanks guys. I think they need to get him more involved, maybe we will start to see that more and more, we'll see.

Some life to this support group. There are likely not many of putting him their lineups but he has produced today. Hoping for more though.
