Does he stay does he gowhat is his upside next year? I have to believe with his talent and age he has many good years left. Christ he was just a top 10-15 scoring guy the year prior. Palmer going down and not wanting to play in cinci was his downfall. What does everyone think here?

Eh, I can see him rebounding. Even if he does, he's easily the least consistent Top 10 Reciever in the league. He'll blow up for 4 TD's in one game, get none for 6 straight. Then get 3 in one game. He's solid for yardage though, and if TJ goes... it'll be rough for him.

I truly think this year is an aberration brought on by all the offseason crap, coupled with Palmer going down.

Palmer favors TJ over CJ. That was obvious before Palmer went down.

Palmer favored TJ, because Chad could beat you deep....defenses don't want to give up the deep ball.I see him bouncing back if he stays in Cincy, but he is probably on the way out.

and he was playing with a torn labrum.

The "inconsistent" argument only applies if he is on the same field as TJ Housh. He was very consistent in 03, 04, 05. He won a lot of people championships those years. Then Housh blew up in 06 and 07 (partly because Chad was so dominant years prior) and Chad had to get his in pieces.I think he can dominate again. He is as talented as any WR short of Moss, and while he is a primadonna, it is the type who plays hard, plays through pain, and stays out of trouble.

Even if he walks away with 800 yards and 6 TDs next year, I am guessing he would still have been a bargain. In redraft, where do people expect him to go? I would be surprised if he went anywhere before WR 30...could be a nice value play, especially in PPR.

I'll probaly get reamed for saying this but I really don't think he gave 100% effort this year. I do think he can rebound and think he will.

It worked for Corey Dillon and Randy Moss. Dude obviously had the same intention. I remember Corey saying he did what he had to do (to get out of Cincinnati).

TJ might not be there next year. Has anyone heard anything of contract talks with him?? TJ is a FA this year IIRC.

While I agree he has talent, Chad's numbers went down because palmer did not trust him.Take a look at 3rd down conversions in 2006, and 2007, and you'll see palmer clearly favored Housh.Chad was always trying to set up a play for the "big play." He'd turn a 5 yard slant, into a "sluggo" route instead. Always trying to bait the db even when the play dictated getting 4-5 needed yards. Then there were the arguments between Palmer and CJ. Palmer pissed at him for Chad screwing up the timing of the route, and throwing the pick. CJ pissed at Palmer for not going his way more. Sure, the double coverage on Chad was a factor, but Chad became too selfish craving the big play for his ego.TJ runs the same routes....if it calls for a 7 yard curl, that's what TJ does, and Palmer goes to him, because he knows he'll be there. That's why he had 112 catches in 07.So, the real question, is this: Does Chad grow up this year?
