Chad Johnson took a swing at Marvin? (1 Viewer)

some high-quality journalism right there. besides being bombared with the 1500 popups, I got to read this gem:

It's no secret that the Bucs like to collect turds.  But with Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton under contract, we're not sure that there's room for T.O. in Tampa. Besides, we think the team to pursue Owens the hardest will be the Broncos, who'll be looking for ways to significantly upgrade the team after getting dismantled on Saturday by the Patriots
why do people read that trash?

How reliable is that site? I was always under the impression that CJ and Marv had a good relationship. Upsetting if true. CJ is one of the only show boats I enjoy watching.

PFT.com is an NFL Gossip site. Some true, most false.Perhaps this is why Chadwick was seen crying after the game.He was afraid to go into the locker room and face his coaches and teammates.

I agree that its trash, but I seriously LOLed at the idea of Capella getting all pissed after them calling TB players "turds." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Anyone else heard about this???? Unreal if true.
Since those articles drop off their front page, here it is:
CHAD TOOK SWING AT MARVIN

A league source tells us that multiple members of the Cincinnati Bengals witnessed a troubling incident as the team prepared to take the field for the second half of Sunday's playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Per the source, the last few minutes of intermission were ticking away, when the players were startled by the sight and sound of a helmet slamming against the glass pane of the training room door. Inside, receiver Chad Johnson and receivers coach Hue Jackson were engaged in an altercation. At one point, Johnson was seen holding Jackson in a headlock.

Coach Marvin Lewis entered the training room to intervene, and Johnson (per the source) took a swing at him.

Eventually, receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh broke up the skirmish, within a minute or so of the team exiting the locker room for the second half.

On Monday, several members of the team pointed to the Johnson-Jackson-Lewis incident as the catalyst for the loss of a 17-14 halftime lead and, ultimately, a 31-17 defeat.

Word is that Johnson was unhappy with the lack of balls thrown to him in the first half. A total of three passes came his way, with two completions.

In the second half, another three passes were thrown to Johnson, with only two more completions. For the game, Johnson had four catches for 59 yards.

The incident could have an even more lasting impact on the team than quarterback Carson Palmer's torn ACL and MCL. Some players, we're told, don't want to see Johnson back next year, and there's a belief that the team will be less inclined to give in to Johnson's request for a hefty restructuring of a contract that expires after the 2009 season.

So the Chad Johnson saga very well could evolve into the 2006 version of the Terrell Owens fiasco. If so, it's very bad news for a franchise that otherwise looked to have a very bright future.

Because they break most major stories long before all other news sources?

Not pissed at all, just surprising to see such garbage in what some people say is a credible site.

Ever wonder the % of people here who denounce that site but check it regularly?
:goodposting: I read the site every day. Not only do they break a ton of stories but they have a great sense of humor. I'm hoping Tice gets a gig in the NFL again real soon just so PFT can start writing about him again. :D

Exactly. They are the best NFL news site on the web. They report almost everything first, and have no allegiances to certain players or coaches like ESPN, SI, etc. Best reading on the web

A year or so back this guy's hit rate was arguably pretty weak. In the last few months ago, however, it's uncanny how many times he not only right, but out in front of a story well before the mainstream media is. And when he's wrong he admits it. He nailed the Herm Edwards coaching change long before anyone else did. You may not think highly of his site, but in the last few weeks Peter King, Len Pastarelli and Jim Mora Jr have all referenced and/or quoted it. I just thought I'd throw the link out there to see if any locals had heard of the story. I ran a search and saw no other posts regarding this story. Sorry about the pop-ups.

I get the feeling King's a fan of the site. Pasquerelli sure isn't and if you read PFT regularly you know why. They have ripped him repeatedly (and deservedly so) for his questionable dealings with NFL execs and agents.

From that article there is definitely a fine line between "trash" and truth. Especially the first part of it.

Thanks for the post. I appreciate these stories even when we are trying to determine whether it is true or not.

PFT is standing by their story:POSTED 10:38 a.m. EST, January 10, 2006 JOHNSON-LEWIS INCIDENT CONFIRMED As the real media scrambles to investigate an "Internet report" regarding a halftime altercation in the locker room between receiver Chad Johnson and coaches Hue Jackson and Marvin Lewis, we've obtained further confirmation of the fact that something bad went down during intermission of Sunday's playoff game between the Bengals and the Steelers. And we're asking the real media for a little favor on this one. We know that we're not yet considered a "mainstream" outlet. But, please, don't go get your own confirmation and then omit reference as to how you first found out about it. We broke it, you bought it -- and when you are able to corroborate it it's only fair to tell your readers where it originated.

-- Chad Johnson Involved in Halftime Altercation with Position Coach --

Tue Jan 10, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

ESPN reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson had an altercation with receivers coach Hue Jackson during halftime of last Sunday's Wildcard Playoff game against the Steelers. The altercation may be one of the reasons the Bengals, who were leading the Steelers 17-14 at halftime, where flat in the second half, and lost 31-17. On Monday, some Bengals players pointed to the altercation as the turning point in the game. When HC Marvin Lewis tried to break up the altercation, Johnson took a swing at him.
Nice job Cappy.

In with the blanket denial from Chad Johnson is an interesting tidbit: News Enquirer link

...........................In post-game interviews Sunday, defensive tackle John Thornton was among the handful of players who talked in general about the lack of cohesion and that the team concept was lost and must be regained.

Thornton, reached this morning via cell phone, said, “I can’t confirm or deny anything that happened in the locker room.” Thornton did say Sunday that the issue did not involve rookie players.

In his post-game comments Sunday, Lewis alluded, generally, to a problem, saying, “We came in here as a football team and we need to leave out of here as a football team and understand that it's about working through the tough times. You work through the critical points in the game and do you job.”

As a Bengals fan, I'm getting more and more interested and disturbed in the validity of this. Thornton was getting ripped yesterday on local talk radio for some of his comments , but those comments in conjunction with this rumor are starting to bother me. BREAKING NEWS***** Dave Lapham, Bengals Color Commentator and former player, was just on the local radio and did confirm that he's got it from several players that something did happen. The defensive players confirmed hearing something. Madieu Williams and Anthony Mitchell were on the weekly Bengals radio show last night and were real dismissive last night about the story. When asked one kind of kicked the other and said they couldn't comment on anything like that. He didn't go so far as to say a punch was thrown, but there was a little something-something but the only people specifically mentioned were Chad, receivers coach Hue Jackson and TJ was involved in breaking it up. Ah, this just freaking sucks.

Just listened to this with Dave Lapham and agree with last poster. Something did happen with Chad and Hugh Jackson at halftime in locker room and TJ got into it to break it up. He believes marvin got involved to break it up also. That is all we have, but interesting.

Piss. If this is true, Johnson's sissified ######## needs to be traded. Period.Christ this bothers me.
