Chad Pennington out for the season (1 Viewer)

My father just called me and said he heard it reported on the NFL network that Chad tore his rotator cuff again and is out for the year. (didn't hear it myself but saw it also same source verified on two other Jet boards). Flying down South for a second opinion. Possible career ending injury. Will post link when I find one. Fiedler - torn shoulder labrum out extended period of time -6-8 weeksGD Jets  :X

They should monitor the 49er situation carefully. With a couple more losses, the niners will be handing the ball to Alex Smith, for better or worse. Tim Rattay is a legitimate NFL qb, and could thrive with the Jets. He probably can be had for a 3rd or 4th rounder as well. He would be a great fit.

Just for some clarification, I was watching and they said they feared he was "likely" lost for the season, not that he was definitely gone. Certainly didn't sound like they were giving much hope of him playing again this year, but I didn't see them say he was officially out for the year.

Thought my phins would be the cellar dwellar in the AFC east. Can't say I'll be sorry if that does not happen.Sorry for Pennie if this is true - I like the kid. I'm not sorry for the Jets, or Jets fans. At least this year Miami won't be full of New Yorkers for the game down there.

If the JEts had any clue, they would shut him down for the season and let him come back at 100 % for next year.

As mentioned, it's not confirmed, but when there's smoke there's fire. All that said, I'm not giving up hope on the season yet. Maybe overly wishful thinking, but I'd like to see what Bollinger has in a full game first.Did I just say that? :loco:

Patrick Ramsey to NY???

Time for Jacksonville to give NYJ Jets a ring about David Garrard. Dude needs a team to lead already.

thanks NJ - just trying to pass the info along. As I said I didn't see it. My dad called me again and said it was confirmed so has it been updated since you posted? Gotta turn on NFL network when the kids go to bed.GD Sponge Bob Squarepants!!!!

I'd take Testaverde.
I like the Rattay idea from above... i picked him up on waivers in a 16 team dyansty league.. have to think the guy could be a starter somewhere.

Agreed - I think he'd have the least learning curve despite being familiar with the Hackett system.

Mark, I agree that the Jets fans can be obnoxious, but so can the Fins fans. For years I've had to endure the Dolphine bringing 7 or 8,000 fans that are loud, rude and pretty much obnoxious. It is all over the NFL.

Tim Rattay is a strter right now, seriously doubt SF parts with him mid-season, come on guys.

i wish someone would give him a chance at being a starting quarterback. he throws a beautiful deep ball, and the guy can run too. he is good insurance for Leftwich though, so i doubt Jacksonville wants to let Garrard go this year.

As a *long-suffering* JETS fan, I would like to see them trade for....BILLY VOLEKHe knows the Heimerdinger system and has had great success in it.And his agent has asked for a trade.I love Chad, but at this point you have to think about the future. Volek is the kind of backup-in-waiting that has had great success in recent years. He could be a Delhomme/ Griese/ Dilfer/ Frerotte type success for a few years. All the other guys you mention have no future in this league - Volek just might.

At least Doug Johnson has been in this position before...he knows exactly what to expect.

This last comment was brought to you the The Glass Is 1/8th Full Incorporated

every rattay owner can dream can't he???

Agreed. The only quarterbacks that are really available right now via trade that could be any good are Patrick Ramsey and Charlie Batch. Ramsey because he is disgruntled and no longer in the team's plans, and Batch because he is a third stringer and if the Steelers can get something good for a 3rd stringer, they would do it.

ESPN just hinted that the Jets may contact Volek from Tennessee or Ramsey from Redskins. And they tried out Jesse Palmer and 2 others... The hell with Palmer, LORENZEN!

He's the Giants 3rd string QB. Not going anywhere.

Tim Couch? Rohan Davey? How about a trade with the Steelers for Maddox or Batch? Obviously, they have to get someone in there fast. Guess Bollinger gets the start this weekend.

It must really suck for you that your team can't even sell out your own stadium, much less when you do make the playoffs. I can understand why you're bitter when your rivals beat you in your own stadium with more opposing fans than those of the home team. Although Miami does have some diehard fans, even if Penny is out, it won't change the fact that the Miami fanbase is lame. You better hope that the Jets fans show up or otherwise it will be another game without the lifting the blackout. I guess you can always donate those last 20,000 tickets to charity again.

this works too, as the McNair owner, I am holding Volek too... nothing like the scraping the bottom of the barrel

I would sign Testaverde right now, and then I would try to trade for Ramsey or Batch, probably Batch as he would be cheaper. Testaverde or Batch could get the job done, I think.

No way Volek gets traded unless the Jets pay a kings ransom for him. Teams won't be willing to trade their top backup this early in the season.

Despite all the different guys thrown out there, the Jets are almost certainly going to have to go the FA route.Given the team's plight, other teams are obviously going to try to jack up the price for available players. And for some of these shlubs, one could probably argue that you could get a comparable one off the street for a much cheaper price.

Yeah, that makes sense. It's not like QBs get hurt or anything. Why would SF need two?

You think Lorenzen will ever see any work? I love that guy. :football:

Whats a kings ransom? I would deal a 2nd rder and other considerations to grab Volek. That would make the best out of a terrible situation. Young with good experience and knows the O. Plus Dinger wants a real arm.

Titans wouldn't trade Volek for a 2nd rounder. Maybe not even a 1st rounder. It might take a 1st rounder PLUS more picks to get Volek.
