Many of you are aware that my wife and I founded the Chance for Hope Foundation in memory of our son Chance, who lost his battle against brain cancer in 2013. We have a three part mission to (1) provide support services for pediatric cancer families (free temporary housing, meal delivery, an annual dance for teenage cancer patients); (2) fund pediatric cancer medical research (with an emphasis on cancers of the brain and central nervous system, now the deadliest for of cancer in children); and (3) promote pediatric cancer awareness. Regarding the third part of the mission, the annual Chance for Hope Going Gold Fun Run is our signature awareness event that takes place each September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (and gold is the signature color).
Due to the ever-changing situation regarding COVID-19, we have decided to move this year's Fun Run to a virtual format to protect the safety of all of our participants, volunteers and sponsors. What that means is that everyone here at FBGs can participate!!! You get to choose the distance (5K or 10K), location, and time of your run, and you will receive an amazing medal and shirt!
How does a virtual fun run work? After registering for the event at the link below, you will be able to complete your 5K or 10K anytime and anywhere during the month of September. Simply run or walk 3.1 or 6.2 miles any time at any location that works for you. In your neighborhood, your favorite trail, or even on a treadmill! Complete the race on your own, or together with your entire family. Afterwards, you will be able to enter your time on our race webpage. For the first time in the history of our Going Gold Fun Run, participants from all over the country (and world) will be able to take part in this fun event for a great cause!

From competitive runners to leisurely walkers, the Fun Run offers something for everyone. Through the Chance for Hope Virtual Going Gold Fun Run, we remember the many children who have been taken from us too soon and extend our support to all those who continue to battle this illness with incredible strength and courage.
Get some exercise, do something fun with your family, and support a great cause - I hope you all will consider signing up!
