Chaos Commish
Footballguy
Hi guys.
I was in ONE of the many survivors here last year and had a blast, even hung in there until fairly late in the season. I'm not a regular over here, but I'm sure getting the itch. My primary league is a local, 25 round, IDP, auction, redraft-- the chaos I commish. So, I rushed into Jeff's blind auction idea and see it has fizzled.
How about an easier set up? I can handle the edits and updates, and I am suggesting a slow roll. This auction will take a month or more to complete, but I don't care. It's something you should check on a couple times a day, but you could easily keep up a strategy by checking in every 48 hours.
My idea. Standard FBG non PPR scoring (open to discussion, but this best simulates my real auction). OR PPR since it seems to be the preference in survivors.
We'll start-- in best ball format-- QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, and spare ourselves the waste of time and auction dollars that are kickers (just to simplify and it does reduce luck a little).
Roster 15 players in any combination providing you can field a starting lineup.
Anywhere from 12-16 teams depending on interest.
I'll use a modification of Xperts auction format to expedite the bidding. To start with I will nominate one player for every three teams. If we roll with 12, we'll start bidding on four players simultaneously. I'll get the nominating going with 4 very obvious choices. After that the winning bidder must nominate a new player each time he wins an auction. If you've never done this it is fun and expedient to have multiple players on the block. If we get 16 owners bidding, there will be five players on the block at a time. Xperts has every team nominate, and 12 to 16 on the block at once is... more than I want to deal with, so this here modified approach will do. As the auction winds down, we will increase the number nominated to move it along.
Each owner has $200 to spend. Use it or lose it.
Bid in increments of $1 or more. No, decimals thanks. Of course, you may not bid an amount that makes it impossible for you to fill out a roster. The minimum price for any player is $1. The maximum would then be $185 leaving you with a buck a player to fill out a roster around Tomlinson.
I will open the auction with 4 or 5 studs all at $10 knowing they will go much higher. Again, the nominating duties pass on to the winning bidders from that point on.
An auction is won when there have been no bids for 48 hours, using the time stamp from the last bid.
An auction can also be won if all owners without a top bid "pass" on the player. This bypasses those tedious 48 hour waits. Passing can really speed things up, so please use the option by just posting... "Pass on nominated player."
In the auction thread, I'll track our rosters and budgets in the top post, and the "currently nominated" player's top bids in the second post. Of course, I cannot monitor this 24/7, so always refer to the last page of the thread to be sure the first two posts are up to date. Hopefully a staffy (JP?) will join in the fun and help with this process.
Join, ask questions, make suggestions, or whatever below.
One thought that crossed my mind is that each nominated player should have his own thread for ease of reference.
eta to open this to PPR and close it to IDP
