This thread is probably as useless as George Jefferson's William Green comeback fib. But, nonetheless, here it is:

Chiefs | C. Rogers works out with team

Sat, 27 Jan 2007 20:37:16 -0800

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free agent WR Charles Rogers (Lions) worked out with the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.

Discuss, laugh, or ignore.

Can't hurt to check him out. You never know sometimes when the lightbulb might come on....if he has one...

They also worked our Omar Jacobs and Rocky Calmus. Looks like they are just throwing it against the wall to see what sticks.

With CRog it's more like the nose-picking kid who sticks his finger in the socket, but like you said, who knows?

I hope he can get his stuff together. He doesn't need to have his head screwed completely on. Just enough to brighten up a bit. Take a look at T.O. his head isn't on right either, he just wants to play football. There isn't a question that the kid has the talent to be a top 10 WR in the NFL, he just needs the drive. The Chiefs could get what they have needed for so long. If Chuck can get it together.

I tell you what I'm not going to do, and that is go pickup Charles Rogers everytime someone gives him a tryout. Been there, done that.

From what I have read here in Detroit, Rogers lost his speed, which was probably the one reason people would have given him a chance. Anyone with talent gets picked up by someone. I have to believe the lost speed is why nobody even took a shot at him, regardless of his terrible attitude.

Yeah, the report was after he got cut last season that several teams, including the Dolphins with his college coaches Nick Saban and Bobby Williams, worked him out and just didn't see the talent there anymore.

The Chiefs are in need for a potential big time WR. He played pretty well before he got hurt his rookie year. I say the chiefs should take a chance on him.

Well at this point I should hope so!

Reports I herd was that Miami had a contract all ready done and ready to go for Rogers and that he dogged his workout so badly that Saban and Bobby didn't want him at all.Rogers is done. nothing to see here.

I don't expect anything to come from this for Rogers, but I think a lot of people had Kennison as a bust and ready for the scrap heap too and he hasn't been horrible for the Chiefs. Only time will tell.

I know he hasn't done much athletically in a few years and he's not in the greatest shape, but how does a guy who ran a 4.3 lose that much speed to where he can't play? There are 4.6 and 4.7 guys playing WR right now. Of course his game might be predicated to feed off speed but come on... He hasn't had any sig leg injuries that I know of.

From what I have heard Charles was never that strong, and he never liked the lifting weights/watching film aspect of the game.Like Mike Williams, Charles was good enought to excel in college without putting in the work the NFL demands for a WR to have success. So when asked to give more effort Charles was offended, and gave less. With 10 mill in the bank it was not hard. Then you see a guy like Mike Furrey who was a saftey last year come out and bust his tail, doing all the extra thing that made him succeed this season.

The guy has plenty of talent and if he worked hard he could probably start for most NFL teams. That's the problem. He doesn't want to do the work. The only time Charles Rogers gets his heart rate up is when he's doing mountains of blow. It's a shame because he was really a great prospect.

That's what's confusing to me. How did Rogers lose his speed? He never suffered an injury that would affect his speed and he's only 25 years old. Even lazy players like him would still keep most of their speed, unless they gained a ton of weight. Is this guy on a constant chronic buzz or something?
