Does height really matter with a QB? I was looking over some of the top guy in the league and most of those guys are 6'2" or shorter. I'm willing to bet that the average QB is about 6' 2". I'm just inquiring about this because sometimes when there are qb's in the draft similar in talent I usually go with the bigger guy. Should I be doing this and is it going to be more sucessful that way. Most of the QB's that we think are larger than life or only about 6'2" McNabb, Favre, Warner, Romo, Cutler..... I really thought McNabb was about 6' 4" or taller.

I apologize in advance if Chase has gone through this before. Just wanted to know.

If you're talking about the NFL draft (and not your fantasy draft), I once did a study using NFL draft value and height as my input variables, and QB career NFL value as my output variable. The height variable was insignificant, meaning that once you know a quarterback's draft slot, knowing his height does not help you determine how good he'll be. This is consistent with those who believe in efficient markets. Surely height is important for QBs, but that's factored into their draft position. And yes, tall QBs, on average, are better than short QBs. Does that help? If you mean fantasy draft, I'll need you to flesh out your question a bit more.

I agree that it does get factored into NFL draft position.

Josh Freeman might have been a 2nd round pick if he was only 6'2"

I was looking more for a success percentage of taller QB's vs. shorter QBs. 6'2" and under vs 6'2" and taller.

I'm still not exactly following you. All Qbs ever? All QBs in the draft? All QBs after three years of play? What exactly are you trying to find out?

All QB's ever. For an overall career. I just wanna know if Taller Qb's are indeed more successful that shorter QB's. I'm sure in the past with the stigma that Qb's had to be tall there probably aren't many short Qb's before the '90s.

Yes, tall QBs by that definition are considerably more successful.
