He has talent but I am starting to think he will never stay healthy and that his time may have passed--I think Murphy has looked good and now Ford may get more looks.
He's still likely the most talented WR in Oakland. But very little that's been said about his prognosis makes it sound likely that he can contribute this year. Latest from Cable:
While Cable was reluctant to say Chaz Schilens would be available for the next game, but is hopeful the wide receiver will be able to resume practicing next week.“To say that he’d be ready to go and all that might be a little premature,” Cable said of the oft-injured wide receiver. “But, if we can get him back on the field, then that would put his window at maybe the next game after that. So we’ll just see. We’ll see what we can get done come Monday.”
For this year, if I had to make a choice between Schilens and picking Ford up off waivers, I'd go for Ford. Which is too bad, because I own Schilens in Anarchy 2 and was hoping he'd give me 10 weeks of production.Long-term, I'd say he's probably worth holding on to a couple more weeks. If he gets back on the field this year, maybe keep him.
I loved him last year, but he was always hurt. I was prepared to love him this year, but he has been hurt all year. I am out of love for him. I still don't like Heyward-Bey, so I'll put my money on Murphy and Ford.
And Chad likely hurt week 14. This guy is always hurt. I would rather have Ford on my roster. At least he actually suits up on Sundays and has passes come his way.
