Chaz Schilens (1 Viewer)

Chaz Schilens could easily be a top 20 WR in 2010 if Mcnabb goes to Oakland. He looked like a nice breakout candidate last year before getting hurt, and that was with Russell at QB. Murphy looked good at times last year, but more of a feild stretcher/#2 WR. Schilens showed great hands and solid route running in his limited time last season and could be primed for a big season with Mcnabb. What do you guys think?

Well, McNabb is most likely headed to the Rams for a 2010 2nd round pick and FS Atogwe. Unless Oakland gets another vet in there I think Schilens will finish outside the top 20. Just my opinion and not fact based, just a gut feeling. He has talent but he needs a good QB, period. In 8 games last year he only had 29 catches/365 yds/2 td's. He's on a awful team and his fantasy value should be low. Might be a buy-low candidate but I'd wanna see the first couple of weeks play.

As of now the Raiders are the favorite to land Mcnabb. Even if he doesnt go to the Oakland, i dont see any way he goes to the Rams, especially for the 2.1 AND Atogwe.

I had him slated as a WR3 with WR2 potential before so yes he can be top 20 with Mcnabb. The injury concerns are however very very valid.

Did he get hurt again recently?

No he's just been banged up most of his career.

please define 'most' cause all I've seen is 1 injury that took a while to heal. Has there been more other than the broken bone in his foot?

His senior year of college he also hurt his foot and missed a few games . Training camp his rookie year he suffered some injuries which limited his participation in camp. When he got inserted in the lineup he suffered a high ankle sprain in this third start which limited his participation in practice and games for most of the rest of the season. So if you look at this last 3 years counting his last year of school he's misses a significant amount of time 2 of those 3 seasons with foot injuries and was limited for a chunk of another season with a high ankle sprain.

Schilens was WR26 in non-PPR and WR25 in PPR for the 5 weeks from weeks 13-17 after he came back from his injury last year and got assimilated into the offense. Take it for what's it's worth.

Sometimes that's how you find bargains. No promises, but it's possible.

I am thinking Louis Murphy is the player to get.
As I said in the Bush/McFadden thread, I have a really hard time forming much of an opinion on anything Raiders these days. Maybe Hue Jackson can bring some sense of direction to the offense, but the last few years it's just been a comedy of errors trying to find any consistency of roles or productivity with their skill position players... except at tight end.

You don't need to convince me of that, not sure you will find a bigger Schilens fan than me and it's because I think he's a bargain. I end up drafting in just about every league I'm in.

Cool. I'm pulling for him too. I'm not as hopeful as I was a year ago, but I'm trying. I live in the Bay Area, and was a Raiders fan since I was a grade schooler in the Daryl Lamonica days, but I just couldn't take it any more once it became clear to me that Al had really lost it. I decided to stop being a fan until he dies/retires/whatever. They are such an embarrassment the last half dozen years or so, and it's so sad compared to what they once were.

If the Raiders were to get McNabb, its very easy to see Schilens having a Mike Sims-Walker like breakout. I think Chaz could be a high end WR3 or maybe even a low end WR2 with Donovan.

That said, if McNabb goes to Oakland the guy to target is Zach Miller who becomes a top-5 TE in my opinion and puts up has a breakout somewhere between what Brent Celek did and what Vernon Davis did.

McNabb himself would lose a little value, but probably not as much as most would think. oaklnad has plenty of good weapons, its just they haven't had anyone to get the ball to them. I'd say McNabb could still be a top-15 QB in Oakland, maybe even a low end QB1 in 12 team leagues.

Since we are on the "what if McNabb goes here?" question, I'm curious what to make of Lee Evans if he goes to Buffalo or Crabtree/Davis in San Fran. Those seem to be the 3 teams with a shot in my opinion.
