Cheating? Collusion? Or Clever? (1 Viewer)

Our trade deadline was Sunday. I had a team approach me today about doing a sort of trade.....

His plan is for both of us to drop the player we want to "trade" at the exact time, then each pick up the dropped player, once waivers opens.

I said no, because this just seems too shady to me.

Thoughts?

I see nothing wrong with it if all the other owners have an equal opportunity to acquire the players that you drop. Hopefully one of you will get screwed and you will learn a valuable lesson.

HOLY ####!!!! You've found a way to circumvent the trade deadline!!!

Shhhhhhhhh, keep quiet though, we don't want this getting out.

That's his rationale. However I am with icon as I think it's a form of collusion and have refused.

Yes this is how it will play out... Drop on 1....2......3!!!!

Mr. Pack drops Jamaal Charles

Player B drops Shonn Greene

Player B adds Jamaal Charles

Mr. Pack "WTF!!!, I'm telling the commissioner!"

Commisioner "Get ####ed"

Looks legal on the surface if everyone has the same chance at picking up the dropped players but I agree it seems a bit shady just because, if nothing else and no matter how small the edge is there that is created, the fact that two of you know something that the other owners don't and the fact that you could, in theory, use that information to agree together to manipulate your roster, sounds unfair.

This is clearly shady - how is this even being discussed?

If you and your friend are okay being shady to your entire league, then go ahead. That's about all there is to this thread.

Merriam.com - Collusion: secret agreement or cooperation especially for an illegal or deceitful purpose

Is it secretive? Yes. No other owners are aware of the pending transaction and won't have equal opportunity to respond.

Is it cooperative? Yes. You are deliberately making a plan to circumvent the rules.

Is it illegal? Yes. The trade deadline has passed.

Good lord I hope this is a troll thread. I almost posted Shutout's avatar as my only response.

While it is a bit shady, if it uses a true waiver wire format where the worst team gets first choice, it is no guarantee that either of you will end up with the dropped players. What would be the plan then?

brohans this right here is colusion and to do this you would have to be one low sob lower than low in fact this is the kind of stuff that if you pulled it in the old west they would shoot you under the table that is for sure so let this be a lesson to all the double dealing no good rotten sidewinders out there take that to the bank brohans

It's not a trade.

I'm still not clear on how this is going to "work". Unless these guys have 1st and 2nd waiver priority or it's FCFS with no waivers, I don't see how they keep the rest of the league from getting a shot at both the players involved.

Yes in this particular league it's FCFS with no waivers. I don't like that format at all

Wow your reading comprehension is horrible. :lmao:
You turned it down, yet you're asking if it is "clever"?

If you feel this is clever, then my cousin the Nigerian Prince would like to speak with you, bc you just won $7MM.

Well then, duh.. It's cheating.

I'd play this out longer and see if you can get him to drop his player.
Nah, I already told him that it's not happening. Also told him not to try it with anyone else either.

good for your mr pack man that is the right thing to do you have shown us that you have honor and so now you can be my wing man any time take that to the bank brohan

Let me understand, you are asking whether a secret agreement between two owners to circumvent the league rules whereby obtaining a forbidden objective and therefore an unfair advantage meets the definition of "Collusion"? Of course it is collusion.

If a league does not want teams exchanging players by prior agreement at this time of the season, then they really should just make a rule so it would be really obvious to everyone that it's not allowed and they are cheating if they still try to do so.

Something like a trade deadline?

Instant waivers suck. Basically, owners are penalized for not being available to their pretend football league 24-7. That's why waivers should be run at a specific time(s) of the week.

Collusion is an agreement between two or more parties, sometimes illegal and therefore secretive, to limit open competition by deceiving, misleading, or defrauding others of their legal rights, or to obtain an objective forbidden by law typically by defrauding or gaining an unfair advantage.
Yeah, I'd say this technically falls within the definition.

I you were going to describe exacting what collusion is in FF terms... this would be a good example.

anyone who would so something despicable like this should be put in a stockade and left to rot for probably a year or two and they should not get the help of the a team even if they had a problem and no one else could help sorry but that is the road you take when you cheat take that to bank brohans

is there a guarantee a) they you defintely pick the guy up b) that the person even drops the person they are gonna trade C) this is just silly d) troll thread?
