Chester Taylor - Probable (1 Viewer)

I found this on KFFL...

Nov 22 Minnesota Vikings RB Chester Taylor (neck) missed at least a portion of practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, and is probable for the Week 12 game.
I have to say I am getting a little concerned about Chester's health with a calf strain and now an injured neck? Does anyone have more information about this? Should we look into grabbing Mewelde heading into the playoffs just in case?

i hope so. boy, 2 points from mike bell and 0 from chester. i'm surely a lock for a win this week... oh wait, that's my team....

Exactly. This guy is Minnesota's entire offense. Still, based on his injury history in Baltimore, him breaking down when you need him the most (i.e. playoffs) is a very real possibility.

They limit Taylor's practice time EVERY SINGLE WEEK to keep him fresh. Nothing to see here.
I'm not exactly worried about the time missed in practice as much as I'm worried about the word Neck in the news update.
It's nothing. They have to give a reason when a player misses practice. Hey Chester, does your neck hurt today? Ah, sure, coach, whatever you say. OK, why don't you sit out today then?

Chester Taylor = Indestructable

Start him with confidence and enjoy your title.

Its a statistical impossibility for him to ever get hurt.

You do realize that it just seems like that because for the last 4 weeks he's been hurt every wednesday, so they've had to limit him....

I would disagree. Then every RB in the NFL is "hurt" right now by that definition. If the guy plays every Sunday, and so far there has never been even a doubt, he's not hurt. That's the case again this week. He gets a ton of touches, and in the past month or so, they've been limiting his practice time because of it.

1. Chester Taylor is currently 3rd in total rushing attempts behind LJ and Edge. For total touches he is 2nd with 256. This has him on pace for 409 total touches if he maintains his 25.6 average. 409 is definitly feature Rb numbers but not so many as to cause concern for the player moving forward. The Vikings have been spelling him on 3rd downs lately with Mewelde Moore.

2. Taylor has not been injured. He has "body soreness" that they have been resting him from practice. He did not have any significant injury while with the Ravens as other poster suggested. He missed a team meeting late last season that resulted in Billick benching him just as he looked poised to take starting role from Jamal Lewis.

3. If Moore or Pinner are available on waiversin your league and you make roster space for them they are good handcuffs to have in case anything does happen to Taylor. Moore has not shown the ability to maintain his health with feature back carries longer than 2 or 3 games before but he may get Taylors role if Taylor missed time. Or the Vikings may use Pinner as the primary "runner" with Moore sharing with him in a 50/50 type RBBC.

Every RB is held out of practice on Wednesday?News to me.

Chester Taylor, RB MIN

News: In four seasons in Baltimore from 2002-05, Vikings RB Chester Taylor fumbled four times. That total spanned 373 carries and 105 receptions, meaning he fumbled once every 120 times he touched the ball. Considering that background, neither Taylor nor the Vikings are concerned that he has fumbled three times in the past two weeks. Taylor said he has moved past the disappointment of that game, and the Vikings say they are not concerned that a career-high workload has impacted Taylor's ball security. "I just have to protect the ball in traffic," Taylor said. "That's basically it. It's behind me now." Taylor has carried 221 times and caught 34 passes in 10 games, a combined 255 touches that long ago passed his previous career high of 190 touches in 2004. The Vikings rested him in practice two weeks ago, but coach Brad Childress said he does not believe Taylor is wearing down. "I haven't seen that," Childress said. "I just think he's played hard and he's been very good most of the time handling the football."

Analysis: Despite his fumbling recently, consider Taylor an excellent start for Week 12 against Arizona.

No, but they're not all coached by Brad Childress either. His personal philosophy is to hold Taylor out to keep him fresh. As soon as Taylor misses a game, let me know.

I'm afraid I've not followed as closely as I might, but...Why has Fason not sniffed the field at all this year??

Why? I really cannot tell you besides he must not be that good? I had some optimism about him when the Vikings drafted him also but Pinner has moved ahead of him on the depth chart and had a few spot carries when Taylor needed a breather.Fason is 4th string at best and may be out of the league before long at this rate. Happens to a lot of players.

per today's news conference.

"running back Chester Taylor has what coach Brad Childress called “overall” body soreness"

they are going to rest him in practice again this week....

Good! Let that guy rest, he deserves it. Lets do it again next week...this time hang onto the ball at the 1 YL though  Ooops...facing the Bears in Chicago, thats not good. First game was 20 - 74 yds & zero TDs.

Or just score on the screen pass.....Man, this guys takes a screen pass to the inch yardline every week! Unreal! Get in the endzone. He played really tough yesterday. Everyone keeps saying he will wear down, well he may be during the week, but on Sunday's he sure is not!

The guy was down for a second and a half before the ball came out...NO WAY that was a fumble.

Chester has had more TDs lost to questionable calls this year than any other player that I can remember. Three TDs called back, two phantom fumbles at the GL.

It sure seemed that way. However, they didn't have an angle to show when the ball actually came out. I knew they wouldn't overrule that call.
