He showed up on the NFL injury report today. Anyone heard anything about him being hurt?

4 for 4 says he missed some or all of practice today. I can't find anything else.

From Rotoworld:

Chester Taylor, questionable with an injured calf, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he'll "certainly play" in Week 10.

Taylor missed Wednesday's practice with "general soreness" and may skip Thursday's workout as well. Be worried if he can't practice Friday. Chester has an above average matchup this week versus Green Bay.

from Fanball:

The News

Chester Taylor was held out of practice today, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's rivalry game against the Packers. Taylor is nursing a sore calf, but will do everything in his power to be able to play this weekend.

Our View

Taylor has performed very solidly, and is the only Viking you should be considering on a weekly basis at this time. He's a tough player, and he knows that this game is a must win. We look for Chester to be in action this Sunday despite his injury status.

First year carrying the load...already over his max carries in a year. Even though its likely he'll play this week, its very possible he breaks down soon.

Chester has already surpassed his previous high in number of carries per season and with all the preseason talk of his poor off-season workout I wouldn't be surprised to see Chester break down soon... :(

I watched the Vikings game and CT looked just fine. If anything, he was more effective in the last drive than in the previous six. I think this is just some of the general fatigue that hits all RBs at some point. People have been pointing to the fact that Taylor hasn't had this many carries in the past and was "out of shape" at some point during the offseason for a long time now, but the fact is that Taylor has held up better than any of those people thought. What evidence is there that he is going to break down for the rest of season? I see none. You can pick up MeMo if you want, but I am not so sure there will be a single RB to pick up CT's carries IF he goes down. Pinner and MeMo may very well share.

Here is the direct source of the report. CT held out by the team due to "general soreness" in order to rest him. No big deal.

RB Taylor held out of Vikings practice with 'body soreness'

JON KRAWCZYNSKI

Associated Press

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Minnesota Vikings are starting to take precautions with workhorse running back Chester Taylor.

Taylor rested for much of Wednesday's practice due to "overall body soreness," coach Brad Childress said, but the NFL's fourth-leading rusher said he will play Sunday against Green Bay.

Taylor signed with the Vikings in the offseason after spending four years as Jamal Lewis' backup in Baltimore. In his first season as the starter, Taylor has become the focal point of the Vikings offense, touching the ball 205 times in the first eight games.

Taylor has rushed for 917 yards on 173 carries and caught another 32 passes for 209 yards.

"I feel like, so I can be able to play on Sunday, they want to rest me during the week," Taylor said. "I don't have a problem with it. I just have to stay mentally focused."

Another over-reacting poster. Sure, his off-season workout was bad :sarcasm:

SHEESH..........can`t a guy get sore or have an ache once in awhile....he does play football for gods sake.

Of coarse he`s already surpassed his carries...he was a back up , but does that mean he has a ceiling that WE can predict based on a sore calf??? Get a grip.

I wouldn't be suprised if it rains today either but that doesen't mean it will happen. He is however on pace for 346 carries and 64 catches if he repeats the workload he has recieved in the 2nd half of the season. It is a lot of action but it is not in the dangerous 400+ carries+catches range we have seen with other players who had problems in subsequent years possibly being tied to the number of carries they have had.The coaching staff has begun to spell him slightly with Pinner and MM to try to keep his workload from going over 30 touches a game although they still keep going to Taylor as he is thier best weapon. Especialy when the score is still in question which it has been for most of the season. If the Vikings could get somthing else going on offense then it would allow them to make Taylors carries more effective and managable.Taylor has done very well and proved those who doubted him wrong. The comments the HC made about Taylors shape and conditioning during the offseason now seem more directed at the workload that Childress was preparing him for rather than Taylor not being up to it.Taylor has a sore calf so they are resting him. Muscles regenerate pretty quickly compared to ligaments and other physical issues that players work through during a season.Taylors main problem right now is that the rest of the offense is not performing well enough to get the defense focused on stopping anyone besides Taylor. This is hurting his YPC and TD ops.Green Bush has a pretty good run defense

NO ONE SAW THIS COMING!!!!!!

 This thread is killing me. The only way to stop the madness is for Taylor to go out and rip the Packers for 130+ total yards and a score. At home, division game, playing for playoffs, no other offensive weapons...

Yea he'll play, and produce his usual solid stats.

did he practice today? any news?
NOPEChester Taylor (questionable, calf) "appeared" at practice Thursday according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, but Packers.com reports that he missed a portion of the session.Keep an eye on Taylor Friday and any other news coming out of Minnesota, but it sounds like the team is just resting him. Taylor said he'll "certainly play" against the Packers.Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press

RB Chester Taylor was very limited in practice Wednesday because of what coach Brad Childress described as, "overall body soreness." Taylor is listed as questionable because of what is listed a calf injury. He said he will play Sunday.

Green Bay has the NFL's No. 10 rushing defense but that likely won't stop Vikings coach Brad Childress from calling Chester Taylor's number 20-plus times. Childress has proven he's devoted to the run.

Chester Taylor had 26 rushing attempts and eight catches against San Francisco last Sunday and figures to be busy again against the Packers. This means middle linebacker Nick Barnett should have his hands full keeping track of the Vikings running back. Barnett also is likely to see plenty of fullback Tony Richardson serving as the lead blocker for Taylor.

Just to slightly alter subject, how are Hutchison and Richardson? Did they practice? I see Richardson mentioned above. I beleive both were banged up and they are both important to Chester's success.

FB Tony Richardson missed at least a portion of practice Wednesday because of a fractured right thumb and is listed as questionable on the injury report. Richardson, who was wearing a cast on his hand, said he will be good to go Sunday.Nothing on Hutchison....no news is good news i guess.

If you have Taylor, you should have MeMO on your roster. If Taylor misses time I would suspect Moore gets most of the carries, but Pinner would get the goal line carries, but the Vikes don't get to many of those(goal line td's).

I have no doubt that Taylor will play, but what worries me is that he will not get his usual touches and not be as effective as he usually is. Combine that with injuries to Hutch and Richardson (although it appears both will play), and this could spell trouble. I can see him having a game similar to the one he had against the Bills earlier this year.

I'm playing a must win game against a divisional rival, and am giving serious consideration to starting Maroney who's going against a weak Jets rush defense, over Taylor.

We got to see Chester/Vikes here in NYC the past 2 weeks (Mon. vs. Pats, Sun. vs. 'niners). In both games, when Chester was taken out, Pinner came in and got carries. MeMo kept his 3rd down back status, but ... it looks like Pinner would get more of the "Chester" load if Taylor does go down.I have Chester as my #2 back in both big $ locals ... and I backed him up with Pinner in both (MeMo was long gone). Wishful thinking on my part, or legit cuff? From what I've seen, it looks like Pinner gets the load.

did he practice today?
Still looking. But nothing definitive on Chester Taylor in practice today yet.
Taylor improved

Friday, November 10th, 2006

Running back Chester Taylor said he planned to practice Friday and was feeling better after getting some time off this week to rest. Taylor, who is third in the NFL in combined rushing attempts and receptions, was held out of almost all drills on Wednesday but said he took part in most of practice Thursday.

Upgraded to Probable

Harris and Robinson out again

Vikings coach Brad Childress said WR Marcus Robinson (back) and LB Napoleon Harris (wrist) won't play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

That means Robinson will miss his third consecutive game, Harris his second. Dontarrious Thomas will start his second consecutive game at middle linebacker.

Defensive end Darrion Scott (ankle) remains questionable, and his status will be determined on how he bounces back, Childress indicated. Rookie Ray Edwards is expected to start if Scott cannot play.

Meanwhile, FB Tony Richardson will play with protection on his thumb. He has been upgraded to probable. RB Chester Taylor (body soreness) also was upgraded.

As for CB Fred Smoot, Childress said he may not return in time for the Saturday evening team meeting. But Childress did not rule Smoot out.

I think I'll stick with MoMo over Chester this week. The rams just give up too many rushing yards.
You do that............and i`ll play Taylor in his easiest match up yet this year , games like this are why i drafted him to begin with.
You know that Green Bay is 10th in the NFL against the run, right?
The Packers are allowing less than 100 yards rushing a game but they’ve allowed 13 TDs on the ground and Taylor is the only player worth using in Minnesota. Add in receiving yards and yo have the makings of a big game at home for Taylor.
