Chester Taylor -- Week 14 @ Detroit (1 Viewer)

What is the thought on Chester Taylor for Week 14 against the lowly Lions? 10-12 carries? 3-4 receptions?

75 total yards and a TD or are we expecting a bigger day?

I'm interested to see if Peterson's on the injury report this week and how much he practices. I own both Peterson/Taylor so I'm trying to figure out what to do this weekend.

It's the first week of our playoffs and I am starting both Peterson & Taylor as my 2 RB's. I think they both go over 100 yards and a TD.

I have both MIN rbs and Bush and Thomas for the Saints. I am feeling more love for Taylor than I am for either Saints RB at this time. I may start both MIN guys in my first playoff game.

Wow I thought there would be a lot more action on Taylor this week.
It's tempting, but the one thing we have all learned to rely on this year is that Childress is completely unreliable. Maybe he runs them both, maybe not. If you're willing to gamble, I would probably assume the same spread that we saw in week 3 when Peterson was ailing a bit. Peterson got 17 carries and Taylor got 11 plus 4 receptions. If you believe that Taylor's 11+4 will be more productive than your other options, go for it. The match-up is obviously juicy. Just stay away from sharp objects when Childress decides to use Naufahu Tahi extensively in an effort to keep both AP and CT fresh...and give the Lions their first and only win of the season.

I appreciate the insight. I don't own any Vikings except Taylor (as of two weeks ago) so I didn't realize Childress will complicate the matter.

It's a nice matchup, but playing Taylor is basically a hit or miss proposition with limited upside, especially if it is not PPR. Look at Taylor's numbers from the previous matchup against the Lions at Minny: 5 carries for 21 yds, 3 rec for 33 yds, no TDs. Taylor has scored a TD in four games out of twelve this year. I don't like those odds much, and unless AP gets hurt, Taylor won't get enough touches to go crazy on the upside. Those hoping for 100 yds and a TD from Taylor are asking for something that has happened only once this year.

I'm considering rolling with:

Adrian Peterson

Chris Johnson

Chester Taylor

Instead of:

Adrian Peterson

Chris Johnson

Marion Barber

Crazy?!?? I just think Barber with the shoe plate, #1 run defense, @ PIT will be very iffy.

I don't think your crazy at all and in fact that is the same situation I am in. I have AD and Barber, but am playing both Peterson & Taylor instead of Barber like I stated in my earlier post.

Thanks for helping me feel sane... :goodposting:

Also, since I looked it up here are the last 7 weeks from Taylor:

07: 34 rushing / 48 receiving / 1 TD

08: BYE

09: 38 rushing / 25 receiving / 0 TD

10: 29 rushing / 84 receiving / 1 TD

11: 11 rushing / 15 receiving / 0 TD

12: 25 rushing / 12 receiving / 1 TD

13: 46 rushing / 19 receiving / 1 TD

This is interesting, too:

Week 11 was his worst performance, but it was a tough matchup - @ TB. Even Peterson got 85 yards and a measly 8.5 points in that game. TB just sold out against the RBs in that game and pounded the Vikes.

I think Taylor is very much a “goes with the matchup” guy. Weeks 7 and 10 – Taylor’s best production – Came in Peterson’s best production games as well (25 and 30). So as crazy as it is, when Peterson does well, Taylor does well also because it probably means the Vikes are pounding a team on the ground.

If Minnesota jumps out on Detroit like Tennessee did, ADP may spend the entire 2nd H on the sideline watching Chester Taylor score like CJ3 did with LenDale White last week. I'm playing a 'for fun' ($20) game against the other bye team this week and I'm tempted to play Chester Taylor over CJ3, since I don't really have anything to lose anyway. Detroit has given up a combined 822 yds and 11 TD's on the ground in their last 4 games. Cleveland has only given up 5 rushing TD's in their last 9 games combined.
