Chicago Backfiled: Week 15 (1 Viewer)

Hi all.

I did a quick search, but I did not see a topic devoted to this subject. As I mentioned in the Topic Description, this thread is not intended to be a Jones/Benson pissing contest, so please check that stuff at the door. What this thread is for is discussing the picture of the Chicago Bears backfield in Week 15, especially if Thomas Jones cannot go.

What I am interested in knowing from Bears homers is the following:

1) How likely is it that Thomas Jones will sit out this game?

- I think that even if Jones injury isn't serious, he'll more than likely sit this game out in order to rest up for the playoffs, and give the Chicago brass an opportunity to further evaluate Benson and Peterson.

2) What is the workload split between Benson and Peterson likely to be if Jones is out?

- I think the Bears will run, run, run in a game where there defense should be able to handle the Bucs offense quite easily. With Jones out Benson could be a quality start, and Peterson a quality flex.

Discuss. And the usually apology disclaimer if this is a Honda.

If Jones doesn't play, I see Benson getting the bulk of the carries with Peterson being the 3rd down back.

Lovie will give Peterson a fair share of the carries, probably between 5-10, in addition to throwing him the ball a few times. As long as the Bears are taking care of business, Benson should still get his 20+ carries

I'd like to hear more guesses as to the odds that Jones actually sits.
Listening to sports talk in Chicago, they stated that a lot depends on whether Jones practices on Friday or not. Jones did not practice on Thursday, if he sits again on Friday, it might be a good sign that he is going to be a game time decision and could very well sit this weekend.
