***Chicago Bears Thread*** A dynasty begins... (1 Viewer)

This team has quit.

Flus 0-18 in sunday road games. How is that a real stat?
OMG. For some reason, everybody wants to give Ryan Poles a pass. His decision to retain this goof when Jim Harbaugh was staring us down is one of the worst moves any GM has ever made for this franchise. That makes his hand picked offensive line which is INEPT look like a mild failure.

Caleb reportedly tweeked his ankle on the final drive.

Caleb was playing the final drive taking needless hits because Flus claims Caleb needed the work on timing in a two minute offense.

There was no timing all day.

Brisker can't recover from this concussion and its not a good sign that he'll have a long NFL career. Probably not worth resigning him.

Hopefully Maye will be very much in the conversation for us at one

I haven't forgotten. Caleb vs Maye this week. For some reason Poles didn't even give Daniels or Maye a look before the draft. Obviously so early to make any definite observation but there are very clear issues with Caleb's accuracy that have me worried.

Way too early to draw conclusions about Maye. In my limited TV viewing, he throws a gorgeous deep ball, but for now sometimes it goes to the wrong team.

Man I hope that's not the case. Big fan of his. We've clearly missed him back there.
I like him too, but his big hitting style of play may be causing the concussions.

He has a pretty severe concussion history. At least 1-2 during his time at Penn St. And he's had three now since entering the league. He suffered his last one Oct 6th and 30 days later he still isn't cleared for contact. That's pretty significant.

As disappointing as the offense was, the thing that worried me most about yesterday was the front 7 got bullied. Just straight pushed around to the point where the Cards didn't even need to pass. Montez Sweat is clearly the most important player on this team right now.

"Getsy led the 28th ranked offense, one spot behind current Bears OC Shane Waldron"
Bears fans may be disappointed in their season but at least they are not Raider fans. It is yet another lost season for the Raiders with no hope of things turning around anytime soon. The Bears have a young QB that should develop decently and that’s half the battle in the NFL.

I was a huge Bears and Raiders fan for years and hoped that this was going to be the 85-86 SB but the Raiders muffed a punt and NE went in for the winning score (or at least that’s how I remembered it). Both organizations have been rough over the years and cannot get back to the level of consistency wrt winning.

Our hope is that the Bears don’t ruin CW. To think they drafted this kid and handed him over to a head coach that is a defensive coordinator and an OC that doesn’t belong in the NFL. They followed that up by putting together an OL stiched together w bale wire and duct tape.

The Bear fanbase will jump up and down demanding a coaching change and of course the McCasky clan will oblige by bringing in another has been coaching staff. This will turn into another change in offensive philosophy. Wash rinse repeat. The Bears hold the draft capital cards to resolve the OL issues but I don’t trust them to do the right thing. Frankly, they are not going to win any more than 2-3 games and may even struggle to beat NE at home so they are in line for a good position in the draft.

The Raiders need to strip it all down and rebuild both lines but probably need the franchise QB. Whack a mole FA players have really hurt them. Like the Bears, it will take years to lay out the solid foundation to start the ascent

I don't blame the guy. Bears are a mess...

I don’t think it matters who the QB is with that line.

Poles had good ideas, but they all went to crap by keeping Eberflus. I was pretty vocal that in the offseason the they needed an offensive minded head coach to mentor Williams.
We keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again. Bring in a new QB will a lame duck coach. That coach is fired. Now the new qb needs to learn a new playback when the new coach comes in.
Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

I didn't think we'd ever make that mistake after giving Trubisky to John Fox. But here we are.

Billings done for the year.

Brisker already unlikely for this weekend. He can't pass concussion protocol. Its getting very concerning at this point.

I can't say if the staff has lost the entire locker room or not, but I can, without a doubt, say that they've lost DJ. His body language and facial expressions tell the entire story in his last few pressers. Dude never gave up in Carolina on some bad teams. Never gave up on the roller coaster with the Bears last season. But here we are.

I thought going into this season the Bears would be 9-7 and in contention for a playoff spot. It was always going to be a bumpy road with this team, but I'm shocked at how bad it's getting AGAIN.

Crazy to think the Bears are going into a week 10 home game against the worst team in the NFL and them not feeling comfortable about it. A loss this weekend could put the whole Franchise/rebuild into a tailspin.

I've given Poles a pass up until this point. Overall I still like what he has done, but he's looking like an average GM that won a trade with a desperate team right now. I'm not fully in the camp that the 2025 Offseason makes or breaks him.

Hey, remember that conversation about what it would have been like if they’d drafted Mahomes instead of Trubisky?

Well, this.

One thing that baffles me about the Bears - no matter who they hire, there are gaping holes in their playbook. Once again, crossing patterns and slants don't seem to exist in the playbook. This is incredibly vexing given the signing of Keenan Allen.

We're also seeing the same disturbing trend from the Nagy years, where receivers are rarely given opportunities to catch the ball in stride and earn yards after catch. How many times are we going to watch DJ Moore run an out route to the sideline?

Finally, at the halfway point in the Bears' schedule, has the team run a single trick play on offense? No reverses, no RB/WR passes, no flea flickers, no nothing.

One has to wonder how much of an influence Eberflus has on all of this, in the wake of his maniacal coaching last year asking Fields to throw 2 TD per game in service of his defense.

He had potential but it seems like it's over for Jenkins. Guy is hurt literally every week. When he's out there he gets pushed back at will. Huge bust.

We need 4 new starters on the line next season.

We needed 2 or 3 new starters on the OL coming into this season, but Poles did **** all to address that issue. It’s about time people start directing their venom towards him as well.

The biggest hurdle for Poles is simple: you have to overpay (sometimes significantly) to get a player with a pro bowl pedigree to come here. I'm not sure how you change the culture, but Chicago is viewed like a loser organization. You go there as a vet looking for one more contract, not a young player who is looking for his first real contract after his rookie deal is up.
Unfortunately, I think that's going to apply for our next coach too (looking at you Ben Johnson).

As soon as he left this game, I knew he wouldn't be resigned. He can't stay healthy.

Absolutely. Poles has firmly moved from a positive grade to "treading water". If he fires Flus today, I'll move him back to the plus side.

I've been since he kept Eberflus. I don't understand why people want to give him a pass over and over. He screwed up the coaching decision, he screwed up free agency when we had by far the most cap room, and then he arrogantly doesn't even fairly evaluate Daniels and Maye before the draft. He made one great trade with the only organization dumber than us but how long can he live off that?

Shefter reporting that Bear’s management meeting today to discuss best options to move forward as a franchise.

This is the Bears ownership playing YET another shell game with the fanbase. They have had 39 years since last winning a SB to figure it out.

In Bears ownership tradition, the fall guy will be forthcoming - blaming anyone and everyone not named McCasky. This is the big rub - wash, rinse, repeat cycle for the Bears - “we acknowledge a need for change so today we are moving forward w a seperation from (insert a name or names NOT named McCasky) and thank them for their service. We will now move forward with the rest of the year while starting the process of evaluating our next hires”.

All of this nut shelling is supposed to say - well Bear fans we are making YET more changes so we reserve the right to request your patience in the transition. IE - more losing and dysfunction until they bridge into YET another hire or 3 of the most frugal illogical hires to mollify the fanbase that seems to eat it up.

As the nut shuffles on the table to keep the game moving, they will then make big splashy moves in the draft independent from the real need - competent skilled players on both lines. The OL strategy will go back to bale wire and duct tape.

The fans? They will continue to pay for more middling football - losing consistently to the Packers and being embarrassed on the national televised games the NFL sweetens the McCasky honey pot with because of all that Chicago tradition. Meanwhile, the NFL will continue to belly rub their franchise darlings. You know the drill by now - GB BALT SF PITT KC DENVER BUFFALO NE and some random upstarts to make a little noise every now and then.

This is the state of the Bears. Dysfunctional ownership that cares less about winning and being 100% content with meandering around the gridiron like Freddo Corleone managing the family casino business. The NFL likes their jobbers and the Bears ownership knows their role very well. Sell tradition, field incompetence, make excuses, cash checks - wash rinse repeat. Follow the shuffling nut. Which shell is it under this year?

Eberflus says there will be changes but it's part of a long process and he's still in that process. Caleb will remain starter. What a complete doofus this guy is.

The worst part of the press conference? That he still has a job.
I love how he tossed out Caleb is still the starter... Like no crap... that's not the issue. Caleb has to get better, but with this staff he isn't going to. This falls on Flus, Waldron and Poles.

I was hoping a firing was coming today. Since it isn't, I'm dropping to a new low today and putting Money on the Packers. I have no faith in this franchise winning a game right now and beating the pack??!?! Lets just be real for a minute. We can't even score against terrible teams. Easy money
