***Chicago Bears Thread*** A dynasty begins... (2 Viewers)

Eberflus says there will be changes but it's part of a long process and he's still in that process. Caleb will remain starter. What a complete doofus this guy is.

The worst part of the press conference? That he still has a job.
I love how he tossed out Caleb is still the starter... Like no crap... that's not the issue. Caleb has to get better, but with this staff he isn't going to. This falls on Flus, Waldron and Poles.
You just said the scariest part out loud. 8 games left for Caleb to take beatings and not have proper coaching to figure out how to protect him.

I was hoping a firing was coming today. Since it isn't, I'm dropping to a new low today and putting Money on the Packers. I have no faith in this franchise winning a game right now and beating the pack??!?! Lets just be real for a minute. We can't even score against terrible teams. Easy money
Exactly- after a bad loss in the rain to the Lions at home and a bye week to right the ship it just points to the Bears taking another tar and feathering from the Pack

Fire an assistant coach means nothing they still have the head coach offensive system. When you have defensive HC run first down, run second down, get your QB killed on third down.

I'm not sure I have faith in passing game coordinator, now OC Thomas Brown being all that much better. He was the OC in Carolina last year.
I think Waldron was only about 30% of the problem. Play designs are bad, the pass blocking is terrible, the offense is sloppy. I think the Bears are top 5 league in false starts. Hopefully Brown can fix the game plan and we start getting Kmet involved more. The offense sings when we feature Cole.

I still feel like this team is broken and they don't want to play for Flus. The firing was the bare minimum the Bears could do this week. I'm not expecting drastic changes this week.

I want to know what dirt Chris Morgan (OL coach) has on Flus. Dude has been bulletproof over the past two years with one of the worst, most unprepared products in football.

Not that Waldron has been good, but this is such a typical move of a terrible franchise. The HC should already have been whacked yet they don't and instead he fires a guy that they need to get continuity with the franchise QB. This fully wastes Caleb's rookie year. The silver lining to this will be when they fire Eberflus they can do a full flush and bring in a Doug Johnson/Kliff Kingsbury/Bobby Slowik and hand them the full key ring.

Bear ownership dismisses top coaching candidates. They give the fanbase a false sense of fully empowering the GMs they hire. There are many many many ex Chicago GMs sitting in the wake of dysfunction since the SB win. Frugal, frumpy and unexciting. The A plus coaches go to other teams.

All is good!

Former RB Thomas Brown in the building to save Caleb and the pass game! Whose extent of NFL OC experience is the 2023 Panthers.

Hallelujah

Guess Romeo Crennel was not interested in coming out of retirement

It wasn't all Waldron's fault, but it was mostly Waldron's fault.

Edit to add: Any stooge can run an offense when everyone is healthy and on the same page and playing against a compliant defense. The money is earned through dealing with adversity. Injuries, teams that never blitz are suddenly blitzing you (or vice versa), and on and on and on. Like Mike Tyson so famously put it - Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Makes sense. He was in charge of Bryce Young's development last year. Wait. Really? So. That wouldnt make much sense if true. Ha ha

One other thing - Money talks. Talent costs money and the Bears are notoriously cheap when it comes to headset talent. There's no way they would have paid Sean Payton 23+ million.

That's why I say a guy like Ben Johnson wouldn't come here. The Bears will always be outbid for talent.

Typical Bears crap, scapegoat a coach while the entire organization spins wildly out of control, what a joke. What makes it more fun is their remaining schedule...
Green Bay & Minnesota at home, then on the road to Detroit, San Fran, Minnesota, back home against Detroit & Seattle, then at Green Bay. They shouldn't win another game, but may luck into 1 more win. Disaster!

Exactly - the Bears beating GBay in lieu of current situation would be quite the story. Not happening. Defense can possibly keep things close for a half but the old trading FGs to GBs TDs will ensue. Bears defense still falls for the GB screen play after all these years and we usually get a clinic example of how an NFL team runs an efficient offense. A loss here will put the final nail in the coffin and put them in a top 8 pick. Frankly - it looks like the Hail Mary destroyed this team. I suspect that something went down in the locker room after the Washington loss that poured fuel on the fire.

Sounds like veterans are turning on the golden boy, Williams. When DJ Moore stops playing for you...ugh. Top 10 pick for sure next year and guys like Moore, Allen, Kmet begging out of dodge.

It did. Guys like Moore and Jaylon spoke about the mismanagement at the end of that game including that dumbass play call at the stripe. Then they had that team meeting. Then the next day both Moore and Johnson said they stand by what they said but they were spoken to about keeping that stuff in house from now on. It was very clear at that point Flus and Waldron had lost the team.

Glad this mistake hire is gone. I'll give Brown a chance. I've heard good things about him from McVay. Cole Kmet spoke pretty highly of him.

Nate Davis cut. Another huge fail by Poles.
Mixed emotions here. Clearly a swing and a miss by Poles, but I didn't hate the signing when it happened.

What I hated was that Davis mentally checked out last season for family reasons and we supported him, but then never held him accountable for poor play and not giving a damn. The OL is so bad, they allowed him to be less than committed to the team and still rewarded him with starts.

He's talented enough to remain a backup, but obviously was a poor culture fit. I put a lot of this on Flus as well for not holding people accountable.

Now today's rumor is that Eberflus wanted to keep Waldron as his OC, but the call to fire Waldron "came from upstairs"... What a mess.

Flus' solution was to move Waldron from the sidelines to the booth.

And the Bears culture is to sign first-time HC’s because they are cheaper.

Speaking of the OC, the Bears are last in 1Q scoring. Their opponent has scored first in every game. That isn’t helping your rookie qb either.

If the Bears don't fire Flus, I don't think I can watch anymore this season.

This organization is starting to physically hurt me.

Heartbreaker. Had the Packers beat after the last few weeks. Damn.

Offense was so much smarter. Really simplified things. Getting the tackles back helps. Caleb made some great plays and throws. Good to see.

Yup, despite the loss I'm feeling a bit better about the offense .
The coach still needs to go though.....

Anarchy put together some analysis on teams that have extreme records in one possession (8 points or less) games. So far Chicago is 2-4 in those games. Next season, Chicago should have a positive regression in those games.

Fn LaFleur is now 11-0 against us. Makes me sick.

D came up small yesterday. Can't give up a 60 yarder on that final drive. Just a breakdown there. And with the offense taking most of our attention, rightfully so, we haven't even mentioned how we've had a non existent pass rush.

Also, when we got to the 30 there was about 30 seconds left and we had a timeout. Yet we huddled like idiots, ran once for 2 yards, and took the clock down to take the last TO before the kick. Complete failure by Eberflus there. We could've had 3 more plays possibly if you're a smart team.

See what Harbaugh's team did last night when they were in position to kick a game winning FG? They kept playing.
