I like the Wright deal, and the Demps & Amukamara deals seem okay. The Glennon, Sims, Wheaton, and Cooper deals seem like overpays for mediocre players.
If all the large amount of money Pace spent in fa this year, Amukamara and Wright are the only ones contributing, and even then not a lot. Glennon, Sims, Cooper, Demps, Wheaton. 33 million. All a waste. Add in McPhee, who's been terrible this year, and you have 41 million in cap space who are contributing almost nothing.
Wtf?Exchange between @BradBiggs and John Fox today about Dion Simms, who hasn’t practiced in over two weeks because of an illness: https://t.co/C8P4RshqDZ
Should be attractive for a good coaching candidateGoing into next season. If the Bears part ways with who I expect them to: Glennon, Sitton, Freeman, McPhee, Sims, Massie, Wheaton, Cooper, young, Demps, they'll have almost exactly 100 million in cap space going into next year with the franchise qb locked up for the following 4 years on a cheap contract.
One would think. Pace isn't strapped to any huge contracts, which I like about him. The trouble is he's spending the same amount of money on a lot of different players who do very little and don't return the next season, which is pretty much the same thing. He needs to get someone in there who knows how to scout pros so he can actually add some talent that will stick around. I thought that was supposed to be Pace's specialty. Apparently, it isn't.Should be attractive for a good coaching candidate
Same thing I said in the browns, just blow it all out. Get a GM and coach in there with the selling point that they have young talent, a top 5 pick, a possible franchise QB in place and a #### ton of money. One would think. I always figured it was Pace's way to make Fox actually play offense. Don't give him a competent kicker so he can't play defense and special teams football the whole year.Info leaking from inside the team that Fox wanted Barth gone weeks ago but Pace didn't. Explains Fox's odd reaction a couple weeks ago when asked about it.
Cohen has not been in as much as we would all like because he does not know the entire playbook yet and he has admitted it. I'm not sure if that's on him or the coaching staff. Probably some of both. The amount of stupidity embedded in this franchise would be comical from the outside, but remains painful from the inside.
-The Bears' concept of developing young players is pretty much the exact opposite of the rest of the NFL. Apparently, the best way to develop players is to make sure they never encounter a critical situation, ever. This is the only explanation I can think of as to why Tarik Cohen played zero snaps in the two-minute drill on the final drive.
-After a pretty hot start for Adam Shaheen (3 catches and a TD in the first 17 minutes), he is targeted once for the rest of the game - in a competitive game, in which the Bears couldn't make up an excuse for not throwing the ball. Yes, I know he comes from Ashland, he needs to learn to block, blah blah blah. The best way to learn is by not throwing him the ball. If the Bears consider Shaheen a weapon for the future, which he better be based on the draft capital they expended on him, they don't have any plays in the playbook with him featured as the primary target worth running?
-Everyone knows Connor Barth sucks. At least everyone I watched the game with (all Lions fans). We all kept saying, he's going to miss, as long as the Lions don't give up a TD, they are fine. In what we all knew a long time ago is a developmental season, would it not be worth it to give Aguayo a chance?
So Mcbride, who didn't come in until after the season, does?Cohen has not been in as much as we would all like because he does not know the entire playbook yet and he has admitted it. I'm not sure if that's on him or the coaching staff. Probably some of both.
Not sure but I bet his past NFL experience sure helps. I'm not saying I agree with it, just passing along the information. So Mcbride, who didn't come in until after the season, does?
I definitely can't stand John Fox, so take my comments with a grain of salt. But these problems seem to be unique to the Bears. It's been 11 weeks, plus 4 preseason weeks, plus the off-season. There's no excuse.Cohen has not been in as much as we would all like because he does not know the entire playbook yet and he has admitted it. I'm not sure if that's on him or the coaching staff. I agree. I love the plays when they have Howard and Cohen in the backfield. That with Shaheen out there and Trubisky's ability to run a read option should be able to keep defenses guessing all game.I definitely can't stand John Fox, so take my comments with a grain of salt. I'm just not going to believe that if the Fox regime goal is to win as many games as possible, the best way to do so on the final drive was without Howard, Cohen and Shaheen. Literally your only functional non-linemen on offense beyond Trubisky and possibly Inman.
The trouble is they used that excuse to take out the guys who had been making plays all game long. Not sure but I bet his past NFL experience sure helps. I'm not saying I agree with it, just passing along the information.
I've seen a lot of potential from this team but countless times the players either make stupid mistakes or the coaches get in the way. Loggains keeps showing me that he can actually make some great calls for the offense but he's either not consistent or Fox makes him change his strategy. I'm not sure who's more at fault.
Pederson is not really an old school coach. He's heavy into analytics and taking calculated risks. It's paid off big this year. Things like 4th and short on the opponents 40 and in are automatic go for it instead of traditionally punting. I'm so happy we got Doug.-X- said:I would consider Pederson to be an "old school" type of coach. Seems to be doing just fine.
We are just snake-bitten. Sell the team to someone who will overhaul the entire organization.
I think it will get a lot better when he isn't calling the most predictable play book in history from the Fox regime. I'm still hopeful.RBM said:I just don’t see “star” when I watch Mitch. I see an Andy Dalton ceiling. Pretty depressing.
Wouldn't see anything from any rookie on this team.RBM said:I just don’t see “star” when I watch Mitch. I see an Andy Dalton ceiling. Pretty depressing.
What I meant was that he uses a traditional methodology for his game plan. The fact that he uses analytics and is aggressive on fourth down doesn't change that, only that he is willing to roll the dice more often.Pederson is not really an old school coach. Let’s face it, the situation will never really be good for him. We’re not miraculously going to turn into a franchise that does things right like get a good GM who hires a good coach. Mitch will never have an ideal situation. No way that guy ever becomes a star.Wouldn't see anything from any rookie on this team.
Here it is. The @Eagles were having so much fun, they started playing Tic Tac Toe on the sideline ? https://t.co/U1Oratb6NaThe Eagles were so bored with the Bears that they were literally playing Tic Tac Toe on the sideline.
I hope that's not the case, but there's no reason to believe they'll figure it out.Let’s face it, the situation will never really be good for him. Short list.Might as well start talking about the next coach and the draft.
Jon Gruden, anyone? Kidding. Teryl Austin?
McDanielsShort list.
Obviously Harbaugh.
Patricia
Carmichael
Frank Reich
I don't think McDaniels fits in Chicago. Great offensive guy, though. Just doesn't seem like he would fit with Pace and Chicago. Reich and Carmichael are top of my list. Harbaugh is a dream.McDaniels

Time for a new identity.
