***Chicago Bears Thread*** Ben Johnson hired. The Resurrection Begins! (7 Viewers)

Now that Clay is out a few weeks I'm thinking about picking up Miller at TE.  Trubisky targeted him a lot and I think he will put up good numbers as long as he stays healthy.

Any talk about getting Cohen more involved? Trying to stomach starting him but not sure I can... Fox is awful, giving some credence to flapgreen's criticism of him

With Gentry's promotion, Deonte Thompson is gone.

Wonder if Cohen will return kickoffs now.  They sure aren't using him enough in positive space, just gimmicky gadget plays laterally or behind the line.

I watched it 3 times on DVR.  The TE was 3 yards behind the defender and had another 5 yards of end zone behind him.  That ball should have been delivered a lot higher/further back.  Yes, Sendejo made a good play on it but it was underthrown.  Tough throw to make, and one reason they tell you not to throw back against your body, but that doesn't change the fact it shouldn't have been thrown.  I'm a Trubisky fan and believer, just pointing it out is all.
Pretty sure we could dig up 30 Aaron Rodgers TDs and 100 Brett Favre TDs that meet that definition. 6 points is 6 points, its not always gonna be perfect.

League sources: #Bears WR Markus Wheaton has a tear in his groin and could miss 4-6 weeks.

Another terrible signing and another wr gone

Wheaton 5 million for ZERO catches. Great job there Pace. A cool 25 mil for Glennon, Wheaton, and Demps. You're the best!

Pitiful handling of the offense by Pace. Uneven and years behind the D, which isn't loaded with talent either, outside of the DL.   Massie will be gone after this year. Sitton still the best lineman but is aging. I bet he regrets coming here.  Long unable to stay healthy, not that I blame Pace for that.  Obviously no WRs in his 3rd year.  I'm not sure the deal at TE. Can't get rookie on field.

Almost nothing at OLB and nothing on the horizon.  Floyd and nothing else. McPhee will probably gone. CB position is decent if Fuller and Prince can stay healthy.  Jackson looks like he can be good.  Amos is completely helpless in pass coverage. Demps probably won't be back.

So needs:

RT

2-3 WRs

Unsure at guard

Safety. Amos is a backup

2 OLBs

Probably a CB or 2

Unsure at ILB. Depends on Kwiatkoski

And that's just if everyone stays healthy, which has been the opposite of what's occurred. Unacceptable going into 3rd season. He's drafted pretty well but not good enough to make up for how he's played FA.

It's like Pace has played FA like he's crushed every draft pick, which he hasn't. Season is over for the 3rd straight season heading into week 6. On hot seat and will be canned after next season if it continues.  Said he would come out spending in FA this year and just completely laid an egg.  A lot of us trashed his FA class this year and it's somehow been even worse than expected.

Everyone still think the '17 was so terrible that we should've waited for the generational '18 class? Don't always believe what you hear.

How many times are you going to claim victory a few weeks into what is going to take years to determine? No offense, but the guy you were pounding the drum for fell a full round and a half from what you thought and has looked like complete dog ####, so perhaps keep some perspective.....

The perspective is dickwads like you hammered me when I said then.  Now, you want to stop your feet and cry once you look like a fool.  Deal with it.

:lmao:

WTF are you talking about? I'm not even a Bears fan (thankfully), I just come in here occasionally to try to get some insight on the team, but the only insight I've gotten is that you love to go off the rails.

Again, way too early to draw any definitive conclusions, but the only QB in this draft that looks great right now is the one who you're consistently bashing. Can't make this stuff up.   :lmao:

Totally did not deserve to win that game.

Defense playing out of its mind, including Fuller & Amos.  Flacco just kept picking on Fuller and he was truly awesome today.

Nice evasion & throw by Trubador to Wright to get us into FG range.

Shades of Walter with Cohen's TD toss.

Horrible special teams coverage and that punt needed to go out of bounds after they brought the gunners in to protect.

Aside from the footshooting antics, enjoyable to see a smashmouth game end up with a W.

Bears tried to lose that one but managed to steal a win there.  The defense has really looked pretty darn good this year.  Seeing potential each week I watch them.

Hi, dickwad here, the jury is still out on Trubisky. So, before you anoint yourself the king of the NFL, you might want to give it a little more time. This is his second game. How is Kizer doing week 6?

REPORT: Packers looking to trade for Dolphins QB Jay Cutler. "There's nobody with more experience throwing to Green Bay players"

Could the Fuller pick end up working out in the long run? Need to re-sign that guy. Last year was really strange.  He's been downright dominant and looks every bit worth the first round pick spent on him.

That's if he even wants to return to the Bears. If not, you have to consider franchising him.

14 of the Bears running plays went for a loss or no gain. Trubisky constantly set up for failure in 3rd and long passes.  Even with horrible play calling, the kid improved.

The Bears have made it clear their priority is the long term development of Trubisky. If that means leaving first downs and points on the table by bringing him along slowly and limiting what theyre asking him to do, so be it. If it costs them games, so be it. For that matter, if hey had opened up the offense and Trubisky turns the ball over 3 more times, they lose that game. They won the game (despite the special teams best efforts). You can agree with the thought process or not, but its a deliberate decision, and imo the priority is 100% correct whatever you think of its effectiveness on his development.

Leaving him constantly in 3rd and long situations with poor play calling ahead of it is in no way developing him well.  The play calling is erratic and never flows. I'm fine with them easing him in and not passing that much but the way they're getting there is idiotic and reflects on how clueless Loggains is.  Mix it up. Use playaction more. Run some out of the gun.  The defense ALWAYS knows when the Bears are going to run and pass. Loggains has no feel for the game.

Yeah cant argue with that. The first couple series last week were dynamic and he looked great. No idea why they got away from the play action and sprint outs.

It's smart to bring him along slow. Be nice if it was Gase or McDaniels bringing him along and not Loggains, though.

Can't remember which one but from one of the Bears writers, Trubisky had 6 throw aways yesterday. Kid isn't going to make a lot of mistakes.

We already knew the WRs were bad. Not a surprise. The OL has been pathetic at pass blocking. All that noise about supporting Mitch. These guys should feel ashamed and humiliated.

Bears had 15 true possessions on Sunday.
Had multiple completions on only one drive.
Attempted zero or one pass on 12 possessions.

That 2018 class turning it around yet or nah? The QBs drafted this year were the worst in decades. Right?

Rogers hurt, Case Keenum in Minny, Stafford...well, let's call that a sunk cost...do the bears have the best qb in the division for the remainder of 2017 (we already know they have the best RB)?

Best QB of the future, no doubt.  Howard may be the best RB in the entire league.  Howard/Cohen are definitely the best duo.
