Totally agree here.I do like the idea of Montero for 3 years coming off a bad year vs. Martin for 5 years coming off a career year. Solid platoon with Castillo and a nice stopgap to give Schwarber time.

Sources: Now that Miguel Montero is dealt, the next move for Chicago is to trade Welington Castillo. Had explored deals during Martin chase.
Beer & chickenLester chose losing over a few less bucks.
I was close.Cubs will get Lester for 6/152. It's not my money, so I guess I can live with it.That sound you hear is the deafening silence that comes with settling for what you can get instead of what you want
Transaction No. 1: As part of a three-team deal, Cubs trade 3B Luis Valbuena, OF Chris Coghlan, C Welington Castillo, and SP Travis Wood to White Sox for SP Andrew Cashner and SS Franchy Cordero
Transaction No. 2: Cubs sign C David Ross
Seems a bit zany to me.Transaction No. 3: Cubs trade SS Javier Baez, CF Albert Almora, 1B Dan Vogelbach, and SP Felix Doubront to Rays for 2B Ben Zobrist and LF Wil Myers
Just some baseless speculation by that particular blogger.Potential next moves for the Cubs.

I don't think trading for Zobrist is a good idea.Matt Kemp and Ben Zobrist seem to be names that keep popping up this morning.
Does Maddon speak Spanish? Lotta vowels at the end of those names.Grahamburn said:Fun with lineup and rotation speculation:
Lester, Arrieta, Hammel, (Wood/Hendricks/Jackson/Turner/Wada/Straily)
Coghlan - LF
Alcantara - CF
Rizzo - 1B
Castro - SS
Soler - RF
Montero - C
Baez - 2B
Valbuena - 3B
Bryant should be up by May.

106 years of laughs is more than even George Burns deliveredFor some reason I have a lot of Cardinals fans as Facebook friends. I told them to get their laughs in now about the Cubs, because it won't be funny for long.
Being the only guy on the board to have seen the last Cubs World Series Championship, you must have some great stories. Jack Pfieister's autograph in a safety deposit box?106 years of laughs is more than even George Burns deliveredFor some reason I have a lot of Cardinals fans as Facebook friends. Eephus saw the rare 3-4-6 double play (SS was covering third).Being the only guy on the board to have seen the last Cubs World Series Championship, you must have some great stories. Jack Pfieister's autograph in a safety deposit box?
Makes sense for both teams. The NL central will be stacked for the next few years.I wonder if they are done wit pitching this offseason. There bullpen needs work, and they need another starter or 2. I would see if Phillies would trade Hamels and Byrd. Offer Baez as the centerpiece.
Cubs have a ton of highly regarded prospects. The only untouchables, to me, are Bryant and Russell. Everyone else should be fair game.Makes sense for both teams. Next year the Cubs might do a deal like that but they are not quite to that point - yes they have the prospects but would they be clear Central winners adding Hamels when their offense is still not resolved - again just a year - maybe half a season away from wanting to make a move like thatI wonder if they are done wit pitching this offseason. True. The Cubs have been getting raves for their loaded farm system, but when you look at the projected lineup, there are a ton of holes. The issue they face on a guy like Baez is if he continues his horrid showing from last year, his value might plummet.Next year the Cubs might do a deal like that but they are not quite to that point - yes they have the prospects but would they be clear Central winners adding Hamels when their offense is still not resolved - again just a year - maybe half a season away from wanting to make a move like thatI wonder if they are done wit pitching this offseason. God I hate that guy. Rasmus was supposed to leave us tickets at Busch but he "forgot" and Wrigley and I had to get drunk and scalp some before the game. Plus he sucks at baseball and has a ##### dad.The Cubs met with Colby Rasmus' agent during the meetings. Supposedly, Maddon wants a legit CF, and not a corner outfielder trying to get by.
Of the 24 players that played 700 innings in CF last year, fangraphs has Colby Rasmus ranked 21st when it comes to defense. The Cubs met with Colby Rasmus' agent during the meetings. Supposedly, Maddon wants a legit CF, and not a corner outfielder trying to get by.

One would have to wonder. One has to wonder why Colby Rasmus would leave two yahoos from Plainfield a couple of tickets in the first place

Wasn't this weeks ago?Apparently he may not have been involved. Or at least not firing the gun. Rojas mistakenly reported that he'd been arrested.
Your face is dragging him down.Apparently cleared of any wrong doing. I think the Cubs gotta move this guy before his friends drag him down
