Potential next moves for the Cubs.

Transaction No. 1: As part of a three-team deal, Cubs trade 3B Luis Valbuena, OF Chris Coghlan, C Welington Castillo, and SP Travis Wood to White Sox for SP Andrew Cashner and SS Franchy Cordero
Transaction No. 2: Cubs sign C David Ross
Transaction No. 3: Cubs trade SS Javier Baez, CF Albert Almora, 1B Dan Vogelbach, and SP Felix Doubront to Rays for 2B Ben Zobrist and LF Wil Myers
Seems a bit zany to me.

Just some baseless speculation by that particular blogger.

Well yes obviously.

Cubs should have issued a warning about the Lester signing.

My boner won't go away

Fun with lineup and rotation speculation:

Lester, Arrieta, Hammel, (Wood/Hendricks/Jackson/Turner/Wada/Straily)

Coghlan - LF

Alcantara - CF

Rizzo - 1B

Castro - SS

Soler - RF

Montero - C

Baez - 2B

Valbuena - 3B

Bryant should be up by May.

Does Maddon speak Spanish? Lotta vowels at the end of those names.

As a matter of fact he does.

Perfect.

Jonny Gomes might save me $150 this year. No chance I purchase the season if he's a Cub.

None.

For some reason I have a lot of Cardinals fans as Facebook friends. I told them to get their laughs in now about the Cubs, because it won't be funny for long.

106 years of laughs is more than even George Burns delivered
Being the only guy on the board to have seen the last Cubs World Series Championship, you must have some great stories. Jack Pfieister's autograph in a safety deposit box?

I wonder if they are done wit pitching this offseason. There bullpen needs work, and they need another starter or 2. I would see if Phillies would trade Hamels and Byrd. Offer Baez as the centerpiece.

Makes sense for both teams. The NL central will be stacked for the next few years.

Cubs have a ton of highly regarded prospects. The only untouchables, to me, are Bryant and Russell. Everyone else should be fair game.

Next year the Cubs might do a deal like that but they are not quite to that point - yes they have the prospects but would they be clear Central winners adding Hamels when their offense is still not resolved - again just a year - maybe half a season away from wanting to make a move like that

True. The Cubs have been getting raves for their loaded farm system, but when you look at the projected lineup, there are a ton of holes. The issue they face on a guy like Baez is if he continues his horrid showing from last year, his value might plummet.

A future infield of 1B: Anthony Rizzo 2B: Starlin Castro SS; Addison Russel and 3B: Kris Bryant looks pretty awesome right now.

The Cubs met with Colby Rasmus' agent during the meetings. Supposedly, Maddon wants a legit CF, and not a corner outfielder trying to get by.
God I hate that guy. Rasmus was supposed to leave us tickets at Busch but he "forgot" and Wrigley and I had to get drunk and scalp some before the game. Plus he sucks at baseball and has a ##### dad.

Of the 24 players that played 700 innings in CF last year, fangraphs has Colby Rasmus ranked 21st when it comes to defense.

Maddon and the Rays were interested in trading for Rasmus a couple years ago. I hate his approach at the plate. This lineup has enough K's in it already.

I'm not a big fan of Baez' approach either so far. He has "figured it out" after all of his previous promotions though. 40 HR potential at 2B isn't something to sneeze at, but he probably has the highest bust potential of all these guys. Trading him for Hamels would certainly accelerate the Cubs' win curve.
