And the busting begins.
I'm assuming that official score keeper isn't your daytime job.6-4-3
Of course he does. He looks good striking out too.Bryant has actually looked pretty good at 3rd so far.
3 best looking strikeouts I've ever seenOf course he does. He looks good striking out too.Bryant has actually looked pretty good at 3rd so far.
Dreamyness tool is off the charts! That's one handsome young man
You're supposed to link to the Soler flag waving gifWrigley said:
Basically a race between Baez and Russell now, right? I wouldn't be surprised to see Alcantara sent down. His defensive flexibility is nice, but his bat couldn't be much worse right now. The guy is completely lost at the plate. The hole at second base is glaring.
He is totally baffled by change ups. I expect Russell to be called up in the next several weeks.Basically a race between Baez and Russell now, right? I know it's probably premature to call something an "organizational turning point," but that top of the 7th inning sure felt like one to me. I've watched this team for a long time, and that moment seemed like a situation where the old Cubs would just kind of give up their at bats and then give up the lead in the bottom half of the inning. I'm pretty pessimistic. Especially when it comes to this baseball team. Two outs, nobody on, guy on the mound is throwing 100. I only stayed up to watch it because of who was coming up to the plate.
What followed really impressed me:
Soler turns on a 100 MPH hour heater and rips it into left for a double. Rizzo works a walk, and granted they were probably pitching around him somewhat, but that's normally a situation where he'd expand the zone. He doesn't have to do that now with Bryant on deck. In just a few days you can already see how much more comfortable Bryant is at the plate. He laid off the heater and then a slider away. He got his pitch in his spot. A 99 MPH fastball middle in and he didn't miss it.
I felt like a little kid watching that sequence.
Addison Russell coming up. There aren't many holes in this lineup. I almost feel bad for opposing pitchers. Almost.
Maybe because he's been with the organization the least amount of time?Looking forward to seeing what Russell can do with the bat. Of all the prospects, he's probably the one I've watched the least, for some reason.
Wait and see, I personally think they are rushing him, but I'll assume the Cubs know what they are doing at this point.so do I start Russell immediately or take a wait and see approach? Marcus Semien is my SS.
"Start him with confidence" is a bit strong. He's only played 11 games above AA. 1 walk in 46 plate appearances so far this year. I would say that his glove is ready, but they just moved him to 2b so who knows.Like Bryant, Russell has nothing else to prove in the minors
Kid is the complete package
Start him with confidence
Listening to Maddon on The Score right now. Looks like he Russell is gonna be the "leadoff guy" out of the 9 hole.
4-4 and 6 steals confirmedwell he gets a lefty tonight so i'm starting him with confidence!!!
He's bringing up the rear.well he gets a lefty tonight so i'm starting him with confidence!!!
C'mon, it's not like he's facing Lester.4-4 and 6 steals confirmedwell he gets a lefty tonight so i'm starting him with confidence!!!
That guy wrecked his career doing a cartwheel in the outfield during pre-game warmup.
20 dongs, .340 obp, 70 rbis no good? Not sure what people are expecting from Russell, fantasy-wise.
Montero's Twitter feed is amazing.

Did you guys see how I ran to first in my walk lol
Every starter turned reliever is going to be compared to Wade Davis now, but Edwin could fit that mold. He's always had good stuff, and if he knows he's only going one inning he can ramp up the intensity.last night was fun to watch. schlitter was brutal. scary how jackson actually looked decent. i'm sure it's a matter of time before he implodes
He does seem like kind of a mellow whacko type.Montero's Twitter feed is amazing.@miggymont26
