Chicago RB's? (1 Viewer)

I have no idea at this point but there have been numerous debates on this. It seems to have been pretty quiet since the weekend though.

Does Lovie smith have a history of keeping his cards tight to his vest with respect to starting RB's?

One might argue that Benson should start since he was the #1 during the offseason and Lovie said last year that an RB shouldn't lose his job due to injury. But then Benson abandons the sideline during a game and hasn't played since so there are question marks. Thomas Jones the incumbent has told the media he should start and that this is his team, and it seems that the RB coach at least likes Jones as he was quoted to say he was glad to see Jones back practicing and TJ was quoted to say that him and the RB coach were tight. The media doesn't have a clue who will start. It seems those in Chicago want TJ to start based on the online polls. I think it's still up in the air and we'll all just have to wait and see.

Lovie doesn't withhold information that often, but due to the injuries the competition has not taken place. Benson will not be playing tonight, so I would imagine that Jones will be the starter for week 1 and Benson will have to earn his carries from that point on.

Jones to start, methinks. Once Benson gets close to 100%, he'll be mixed in a good bit. How much? Who knows, really? I doubt Lovie even knows...

another vote for starting TJones. Trouble for Benson is, Jones performs when he is in. He was the best back last year and likely will be this year, then he'll leave as an RFA and get signed to a fat contract elsewheres.

Ok this is how it will come down. TJ, because Benson will not play this week (IMHO) will get the nod to open the season. The Bears schedule vs. run defences will allow for both to be utilized as last year, Jones getting the bulk of the action and Benson spelling him for a series or two or at extensive garbage time. If Benson can perform much better than he did last year in these circumstances he will have the opportunity to increase into a more full fledged RBBC. If not maybe they'll turn to Peterson. (the same applies if TJ is hurt). Thats a mighty tasty looking schedule vs the run.

Probably a nice combo pick at the turn.
