Chicago weather today (1 Viewer)

yeah, I know: imagine that, cold and windy weather in Chicago in Decemeber.... just a heads up though:

Despite the fact the Vikings are expected to play in frigid conditions today in Chicago, HC Brad Childress said Friday he did not consider having his team practice outdoors. According to WGN Television in Chicago, there is potential for record low daytime high temperatures on Sunday because of a blast of arctic air that will put the high at around 15 degrees. More snow is also possible. The National Weather Service is calling for winds out of the west at 17 miles per hour, which could make life even more difficult considering how the wind swirls inside Soldier Field.
linklooks like a Bears shutout to me.

The wind concerns me....I had Grossman in and now am considering Trent Green......I know, pick of the elite there

I wouldn't consider starting Grossman again until I was certain the ligaments in his throwing hand are 100%.

What's the money line for CT going on IR after this game?

 What is the whether going to do? Affect the Vikings' top ranked pass offense? I would say that poor whether benefits the Vikings since the Bears do most of the passing.

both defenses should do well today, if this weather report is accurate -- swirling winds and very cold temps should favor the running game, and the vikes are great against the run (not so much against the pass)...and the chicago d is just great.

Chicago is tops against the pass , not against the run. 9th against the run , giving up 90 yards a game . and I think a rushing TD in the last 3 games. And Vikes get back Hutchisnon this week.

I always get suckered into these threads - cold with swirling winds - then in a panic I go back in and readjust my lineup and bench Berrian and Gould because of the info - then they go out and light it up.

This time I'm doing the Costanza and staying firm unless a blizzard forms - how do you guys handle these late breaking weather threads?

let's see, a team that plays its home games indoors that has an already impotent offense in the best of conditions and is now playing in poor weather against an opportunistic defense that shuts down just about everyone at home.Yeah, what was I thinking saying a shutout was a strong possibility? Vikes score 52. My bad.

As a Chicagoan and Bears season-ticket holder ...

All the cold weather does in Chicago is get the crowd into it more whether the Bears are performing well or not. "Bear Weather" is a myth perpetuated by the two playoff ###-kickings of the Giants and the Rams by the 1985 Bears.

Since then, the Bears have won only two Playoff Games at home, one vs the Saints and the other vs the Eagles in the Fog Bowl. And they lost to Washington (twice) San Fran (blown out in a freezing cold NFC championship), Philadelphia, and Carolina.

The Bears have a very good December home record in recent years. But the better team typically wins regardless of the weather. See Houston @ Chicago a couple years ago when the Bears were terrible.

I'd expect HEAVY emphasis on the running game by both clubs today. Low-scoring affair.

Gosh dang it, I hate paralysis by over-analysis...

I'm seriously considering benching PK stud-Ghould over J.Carney (L- dome vs. SF - should be an airshow).

Pls, help me get my mojo on track and confirm my benching of R.Ghould ;)

TIA

You never know with K's but air shows usually = XPs while grind it out battles in cold weather usually lead to a few FGs. I'm sticking with Gould

I'm rolling with Benson today on a hunch. It'll be hard to throw, and I don't see the Vikings scoring more than 7 points. If the Bears are winning by 2+ TDs in the second half as I expect, Benson could end up with 15 or more carries and at least one score. I know Minny's defense is #1 against the rush, but Pat Williams is not close to 100%, and once the Vikes get down early, I think they'll quit in the 4 degree (wind chill) weather.

Its a beautiful sunny day here, perfect football weather. Weather will not be a factor today in Chicago.
:lmao: isn't this usually the case.people freak so much over weather... unless the field is 6 inches underwater or it's a complete blizzard with gale force winds, it just doesn't pay to bench sure starters over it.

Wow, that really is a gutsy call. Definitely a bold move on your part...

I sat Josh Brown last week because of the crazy weather conditions in Seattle, and of course he goes on to score 14 FFL points (tied for top honors last week). Stick with Gould.
