(KFFL) Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen will be suspended for the first four games of the 2007 season for a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. "I'm sorry my actions of last year will affect my teammates, coaches and fans," Allen said. "I have definitely learned from my mistakes and am glad to finally put this entire thing behind me once and for all. I will be with the Chiefs this year and will do everything I can to help bring a championship back to the great fans of KC."

I'm assuming that it's his first 4 games and not the first 4 weeks? Since KC has the bye in week 3 he can't play until week 6?

Apparently not, dude. You don't get a 4 game suspension for your first "mistake". He should have visited with the commish too.

If you believe that Hali benifitted from Allen on the other side, and I don't see how you couldn't, it stands to reason that he'll receive extra blocking attention.

Does anyone know for certain whether Allen's suspension was a result of the combined incidents or might it have been assessed for the probation violation caused by the second DUI?

I was wondering if he might yet get a suspension for a full year. Normally the league moves so slowly it can be difficult to tell and I dont believe the league gave any specifics.

I am actually wondering as well. I think the 4 game suspenison was automitic.I wonder if Commissioner Mother Superior might tack on some more games. Seems like Goodell don't play.
