Can't find this info. An owner has Green on the IR in our league and I need to determine whether he is eligible this week. Has anyone seen the official word?

yes, Green is DEFINITELY out this week ..........................they have a bye

Trent Green-QB-Chiefs Sep. 22 - 12:35 pm et

Trent Green (concussion) hasn't been given clearance to drive yet.

We're not doctors, but Green hardly sounds like someone that is anywhere close to being ready to play in an NFL game.

This is what i found.....is on rotoworld. Hope it helps

Yeah, bye week...but, consider him officially out until you at least see him practice. He's not even cleared to drive a car at this point.

I also read that as of TODAY, Green has still not been cleared to drive a car.

I would expect him to miss several more games at least. At his age (37), retirement may be a distinct possibility given the long recovery time for basic day-to-day functionality due to this concussion.

Has Green ever had previous concussions? It gets much more serious if it's not the first one. If it's his first, he may make a better recovery. If not his first, we may not see him play again.

Edit: clarity

Isn't he the one who got a concussion from head butting the stadium wall? :wall:

Was his first documented concussion.But...seeing how he had to ask his wife if it was the Chiefs he was watching on TV last Sunday...well, it may be a while before he returns.

Since no one said it in so many words, there is no official injury report during a team's bye week.If you use MFL, I suggest you set the option which says to use the previous week's injury status during a bye. Though that kind of screws me in regards to TO this week since he would have been out, it's probably as good as you can expect to do. I wouldn't recommend any commish taking on the job of determining injury status for all bye week players.

Green has been officially ruled out of Sunday's game with the 49ers.

Is he still worth a roster spot?

Would Huard be a viable backup qb or would it be better to pick up a FA Qb like Carr/Frye?

doctors said he suffered a very severe

concussion.

He's still undergoing medical tests.
As of Monday, September 25th report. Until they've finished doing the medical testing and have a good idea about what's going on with his brain, we won't hear a timetable for a return. He apparently had a lot of trauma to his brain, and they're not going to fool around with an injury of this magnitude. My .02.

Hate to be the pessimist, but Green is pretty smart guy. He's now 37. I think he'll probably retire.

Yes this is definitely a possibility. Steve Young had to bow out due to a concussion problem (as have a lot of NFL players over the years). Even though the reports say this is Greens first concussion, that just means it's the first one they've diagnosed. Some guys just put up with the headaches/buzzing in their ears and don't tell the trainers for the "minor" concussions, or may not even realize that the headache on Monday is concussion related...

Apparently Trent Green was at Arrowhead on Wednesday and met with the team. He plans to be at the game on Sunday, but of course, will not play. He's not been in any of the team meetings though. Still day to day, week to week type of thing.

He is cleared to drive now, he drove himself to Arrowhead. That's how Herm said he knew Trent was doing better. :D

I hope he has a full recovery and can lead a normal life.

I also think he should retire immediately. Football is just a game and life goes on a long time. He needs to protect himself for his own sake and his family's. There is no reason for him to ever set foot on a football field again after what happened to him.

Get well Trent. You had a nice career but it's time to hang them up.

I heard that when Trent was regaining consciousness, the doctors gave him the normal checks. They asked him "Who is your coach, Trent?" to which Green said "**** Vermiel." The doctors said "No, Trent, it's Herman Edwards" at which point Trent Green proceeded to bang his head on the ground until he went unconscious again.

Just what I heard. :)

At least you tried.

Well... I've cut him loose. I just don't think he comes back from this given his age. It sure seems that retirement is the logical thing to do rather than risk your life. You might say he'd come back to try for a ring, but, I don't see KC even sniffing the post-season this year.
