Chiefs only team that hasn't played with a lead this season (1 Viewer)

Interesting stat from Adam Schefter. The Chiefs are the only team who have not held a lead during a game. They do have a win which came on a field goal in sudden death overtime, but never actually led during the game.

The Browns and Lions have each held the lead in 4 games, the next fewest.

Has any team went the entire year without playing with the lead? I am pretty sure the 0 - 16 Lions led in a couple games.

Modern era, the 1990 Patriots and 1981 Colts both had 11 out of 16 games that they did not lead in. If you go back to the 40s and beyond there are teams who have a worse percentage of games not led. The 1949 Packers failed to lead in 10 out of 12 games which is a worse percentage (83%) than 11 out of 16 (69%).(Caveat: PFR counts winning on a last second FG as leading in the game, so stats above would reflect that if any of those teams had a Chiefs situation.)

Another Chiefs stat... Chiefs are 12th in offensive yards per game, but tied for 29th in points per game. Ouch.

Yesterday during the game the announcers pronounced that the Chiefs offense has not scored a TD in 33 possessions...

I wonder if Romeo Crennel is aware his team has not played with a lead this season.

Somehow I bet he would be surprised by this revelation.

He might also be surprised to learn that Kansas City is not located in the state of Kansas.

Shame that the top 3 prospects in the draft are all defensive front 7 guys. I would hate to be a fan of a team that thinks Barkley or geno is going to save the day.

Unless they break out a return of some sort for a TD, this is a stat that doesnt look like changing.

Jon Baldwin could be the garbage time points king next season.

I think I found one of the NFL teams that Nick Saban thinks Alabama could beat........Chiefs flat out suck. Pathetic on both sides of the ball and the sidelines

chiefs and alabama should play a game after nfl reg season where all proceeds go to charity. someone start a facebook cause.

If Bowe didn't fumble the ball then they could have had an easy field goal to put up the first points on the board last night.

They were losing 7-0 when Bowe fumbled. Chargers marched down the field and scored on the first drive of the game with ease. I know that's hard to believe but I swear I saw it with my own eyes. Chargers offense actually looked good for about 5 seconds.Looking back, how on Earth did the Saints lose to this team? It's staggering. And cost me first place in my eliminator pool. Grr.

You're right, sorry about that. I was only on my first beer too!

The Saints were up 24-6, it was looking like a good day for the Saints D.But 6 FGs from Succop helped - and of course he missed a short FG last night. And Charles ran wild against a terrible defense, with the help of a horribly badly missed holding call on a Chiefs OL who literally tackled a Saints LB to spring Charles on his 93 yard gallop. That was the play that changed that game because the Saints had it in hand there. And a safety. But the Chiefs did some good things there, starting with punting the Saints inside their 5-10 on almost every chance they got.If they ran the ball 35+ times, if they stopped turning the ball over, if they worked on springing Charles, and if they used that incredible punting game, they would be on to something. But, no.Another stat, with 29 turnovers the Chiefs have the most turnovers through the first 8 games of a season since the 1997 Saints, who hold the record with 30 (that was the Mike Ditka - Heath Shuler era. Good times.)

I thought the Chiefs Stat of the Night from TNF was:

The Chiefs have not had a win from a QB they have drafted since Todd Blackledge.
That's not a particularly impressive stat as they haven't drafted a QB before the third round since 1992 (Matt Blundin, 2.12), and they haven't drafted a QB in the first round since...Todd Blackledge.

Are there any elite QBs entering the draft this year? I believe they are intentially losing to draft one.
Not particularly. Barkley and Geno Smith are probably the top two, and it's probably likely neither goes top 5, and possibly not even top ten.

The point is that Kansas City keeps using veteran stop-gaps instead of trying to draft and develop a long-term franchise QB. Some of those guys worked out (Montana, Trent Green), but not for too long. Now, you can have success and even win a Super Bowl after bringing in a veteran, but at some point, you have to try something different.

Simple answer... turnovers. So far this season they've turned the ball over 3, 3, 3, 6, 4, 2, 4, 4 times. That's just shocking. Really goes to show how so many of these "fantasy stats" are much more meaningless than turnovers. It's amazing that in so many leagues a catch for 5 yards offsets a fumble lost or interception. Heck, there are even some leagues where a TE can catch the ball for a loss and completely negate a turnover.

I think you can get away without drafting good QB's IF you draft good.... players at other positions. Poe, Baldwin, Berry, Jackson, Dorsey are their last five first rounders. That's one good player and remember three of those guys were top 5 picks.
