Vikings coach Childress’ son arrested for DWI

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP)—The son of Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress has been charged with drunken driving for the second time.

Twenty-four-year-old Aaron Childress was arrested early last Saturday in St. Paul. He was charged with second-degree driving under the influence of alcohol.

Court records show he posted bond and was released from jail, pending a March 2 court date.

Childress, who goes by his middle name, Kyle, was charged with drunken driving last February and pleaded guilty in that case.
don't know what effect this has on this weekend's game, but it can't be pleasant to Coach Childress on the eve of the most important game of his career.

He's too busy designing variations on that Washington play where the punter has 10 eligible receivers.

His favorite one so far is where the punter ends up punting anyway.

What's so hard to gameplan? Let Favre change the plays how he wants and hand the ball off to Chester as much as possible. Why would this week be any different than the regular season?

Oh, that's right. Guess that's enough time for Coach to slap his son and then go back to work.

we either need harsher punishments or less idiots in this country. How come it seems this crime(of irresponsibility) is more and more common each year?

Call a cab, call a friend or family member, walk.

NFL coaches are basically absentee fathers. Nobody should be surprised by stuff like this anymore.
not disagreeing with you, but his son is pushing 25 years old. Not sure how you put this on childress at this point in the kids life..
Right, because Childress just started coaching 3 years ago. He's probably been an absentee father the past 15-20 years. Most of these coaches don't just, you know, suddenly pop up out of nowhere and end up in the NFL. They put in 80-90 hour weeks for 15-20 years.

And it was probably worse when the kid was younger while Chilly was in the college ranks if he was involved in recruiting.

Yep. And this isn't a "let's slam Brad Childress" thread. This is true of pretty much of any big-time coach who has kids. It's almost inevitable. I see it in a lot of high powered professions.

Agreed. How many coaches sons have had issues? Barry Alvarez's son...didn't he microwave a bird or a cat or something?

I doubt the incidence of misbehavior in coaches' kids is noticeably higher than everyone else's. I don't think everyone with a demanding job is a negligent parent either.
