Choice or Coffee (1 Viewer)

Without going into any "these guys are available" BS that is prevalent here, based upon the current injury scenarios in front of these two, who is the better pickup?

Short term, it would appear to be Coffee, as it is known Gore is out the next three weeks plus he is the clear cut next option with minimal threat of splitting carries. But, with the potential Barber could be out longer (see S. Jackson from last year as "rule of thumb") and the apparent fragility of Felix, plus the benefit of the run blocking OL of Dallas, could Choice be the better long term option?

Coffee... for the above mentioned, very logical, reasoning.

STL, ATL BYE

Mr Coffee is only getting 1.8 ypc?

I'd go with Coffee, I think you can get 1 game out of him starting. Cant say the same for choice.

I think it also depends on the severity of Felix Jones' injury. If Felix is expected to miss next week, Tashard is a great option. But, you'll probably be able to get at least one more game out of Coffee. I picked up both this morning. The Gore owner (my brother) might pay dearly in a trade for Coffee.

latest info per Rotoworld:

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN's Ed Werder that he is concerned about the severity of Felix Jones' left knee injury.

Felix said he was fine after the game, but it was hard to believe him. Jones (the owner) said his running back was unable to loosen his knee and he might need an MRI. The injury is still being called a strain, but expect more tests Tuesday. Marion Barber is still nursing a quad injury which left Tashard Choice as the primary back for much of Monday night's win.

Based on the source, this should have some validity.

So, does that sway thoughts at all?

The health of Barber and Jones clearly figure into the mix, as does your needs. Do you need a guaranteed bye week fill-in, then Coffee is the pick though is 1.8 YPC speaks volumes in my opinion. If you're taking a flyer on a guy that could help you tremendously should bad luck befall Barber and Jones, Choice is by far the better back at this point.

Though Coffee may have a 1.8 yd/carry average now due to MIN DT, he gets STL next week and that makes him a very good bye-week filler.

He had the MRI today, we should know something by 4PM EST.Barber and Jones will likely be out next week, but then at least Barber will be back. So Choice is good for one game. That's it.Coffee will be usable for 3, and maybe more if Gore is out longer. If you only need a player for one game, take a shot on Choice this week. If more, go with Coffee.Or like me, try to get both.

I think Coffee is good for 60 yards and an occassional TD for the next 3 games and then goes back to ww fodder barring additional injury woes for Gore.

Choice ... if he gets 10-20 touches ... is a RB1. It may be hit or miss when he gets those touches but Barber and Jones haven't stayed healthy going on a full year now. The chances of atleast one being hurt at all times makes him to me in a year of so much downside at RB one of the better options out there.

Wait to see the status on Felix.

Choice is the better back and part of the better offense...but if there is going to be little opportunity (which I doubt), Coffee is the pickup.

Coffee.

By his own admission, he was not ready for a full-time gig when Gore went down last week. Couple that with him facing a very good MINN run defense, and its no surprise that Coffee's production didn't amount to a hill of beans.

Given a week of preparation, and going against a weak STL defense, will allow Coffee to perculate as a RB1 this week.

Coffee will not be an RB1. RB2 at best. MIN D is being over rated based on reputation. They gave up a 5.2 ypc to Jamal Lewis. Kevin Smith did vey well against them as well.

Still, fantasy is 1 part talent and 4 parts opportunity. The reports coming out from Dallas will determine the right choice.

Not sure what's so funny, I stand by my statements.. I still have better options than coffee vs stl. Going to go with Bradshaw vs KC (ppr league).Coffee is a good pickup for those thin at rb who got off to a slow start. I'm 3-0 of course and have more than enough depth to cover Gore being out. In fact, I didn't even need to start him last week (started r.bush) and put up top score. People in my situation don't need :lmao:

I like Starbucks Hazelnut, but DD vanilla almond is good too. Oh, sorry.. I thought this thread was Choice OF Coffee. Sorry, misread..

I like Choice over Coffee, just for this coming week alone. He will have 20 plus points easy.

For short and long term I'd choose Choice.

Dallas O line (run blocking) is downright dominant. If either Barber or Jones is out with injury, Choice still has value. If both of them are out (like next week?), he's an outright stud in that offense.

As an owner of Marshawn Lynch, this might be a good strategy. If you select Choice this week, you start him and see how Lynch shakes out. Next week you'll know a little better how Lynch and Jackson will be used together.

It only took 2.5 games for Barber AND Jones to get knocked out. Chances look better for Choice to contribute FF points over the long haul.

Coffee looks like the play if you're already strong at RB but need a bye replacement, or are ahead of the Gore owner on waivers.

Per Rotoworld:

ESPN Dallas' Calvin Watkins reports Felix Jones will miss Sunday's game at Denver. The Dallas Morning News is calling his injury a sprained PCL.

Jones' Tuesday MRI revealed the sprain. The Cowboys don't expect him to be fully recovered until mid-October, so he'll likely miss Week 5 at Kansas City and take advantage of the Week 6 bye. For the moment, Tashard Choice is the Cowboys' only healthy running back, though Marion Barber will push to play this week.

So, do you prefer the Barber/Choice combo or Coffee, as it would appear Gore/Jones will be back in the same timeframe? Any thoughts on who is more likely to be out longer between Gore/Jones? From history, Gore is more of the gamer, but looking for insight based on type of injury each guy has.

Chester Taylor was dropped in my league. Thoughts on Coffee vs. Taylor, anyone?
Obviously if you're a ADP owner or Gore owner the choice is simple, but otherwise I believe you have to take the guy who's getting the start this week and that's Coffee. Even though Taylor's been good, you can't count on his production each week. Also, Coffee gets to play St. Louis which ranks 27th in rushing defense.
