With the season getting oh so close, thought it may be fun to see which teams are viewed as the favorites to win their divisions. Please discuss your selections.

1. Indianapolis (South)

2. Cincinnati (North)

3. Denver (West)

4. New England (East)

5. Pittsburgh (WC1)

6. Kansas City (WC2)

OK ... who has been drinking the Bengals Kool-Aid? Steelers will be takin' that AFC North title back.

Bengals- they have too much fire power. TJ Housevanilla would be the #1 receiver on a ton of teams and Chad Johnson might be the best WR in the game. Rudi and Carson arent too shabby either. The defense looked down right nasty....even though it was against he semi-pro team in Green bay.

*Note to Steelers fans, if Palmer stays in the game last season, you go home with no ring. No division championship for you either.

New England- Tom Brady. Enough said.

Denver- I dont care who the starting RB ends up being, he will throw down 1200-1500 yards and double digit TD. The Broncos now have Javon Walker to compliment Rod Smith. This team will be really tough to beat.

Colts- This division is garbage. The Jags dont scare me if I am a Colts fan. The Colts will win another 12 games and fizzle out in hte playoffs like a bad fart. Peyton Manning is the new Dan Marino.....without that one Super Bowl appearance.

Yes, because Carson Palmer never loses to the Steelers when the Bengals play at home. Oh wait, Palmer's record against the Steelers in Cincy is 0-2 and 1-3 overall. (I am not counting the playoff loss). The Bengals played a soft schedule last season and had a sub-par defense. Their problem in the playoff loss was their defense, twice blowing double-digit leads. If the Bengals defense improves, they can go all they way in the 2006. If not, they won't win the division.

East: Pats 12-4 - For Miami to take the division requires not only that the Pats falter again this year, but that Miami's QB play gels for them. We'll see by mid season I guess. The Pats had a down year, but they are, without a doubt, the premier team of our generation, with one of the premier qbs of our generation. Hard to bet against that.

North - Bengals at 11-5. Cincy is the shiney new team to stare at, but its a yearly tradition that people undersell the Steelers. The fancy pick is Baltimore, but c'mon, I've had McNair enough on my fantasy teams enough to know that the over/under on games McNair will miss is 6 in my book. North will be a typical slugfest, and closer from top to bottom this year than last.

South - Colts 10-6. I won't pick Jax until Leftwich is replaced and/or Manning is in his 16th season. Could end up being more of a defense-oriented division than people think. Looking forward to see how the Colts adapt to the game plan that the Chargers and Steelers used against them successfully. The one player that could really beat that plan is currently a Cardinal.

West - Broncos. But really a toss-up to me. I think the Broncos weakness was exposed in the AFC Championship game last year. My underdog pick is the Raiders to take their rag-tag team of misfits lead by Jeff George's to the promised land of the playoff. Sort of like the Battlestar Galactica of teams I guess.

In the East, it's NE< because though Miami is closer, the Jets and Bills aren't. Miami is still at least 2-3 games behind the Pats. The Pats had scads of their players our last year, and still Miami couldn't take the division. Now, NE got better. Sure, Miami got CPepp, and did Improve, that's why they're only 2-3 games behind. The Billd hired #### Jauron. See their draft. The Jets are making good strides, but their team was in shambles.

In the south, it's all about Indi, and it's not close. J'ville is solid, but nobody else will even contend for a wildcard.

In the North, a two horse race, but I have to give the edge to Cinci. Marv's got them going, and Carson Palmer looks great. He didn't even have Chad to throw to. Granted it was the Packers, but still. Pitt will be formidable, as they always are, but I give the edge to Cinci, with Pitt getting a WC.

In the West, it's the Donkeys by default. The Raiders signed Jeff George. That's a desperation move. They haven't looked good, and I don't see much promise of improvement. The Chargers will rue the day they let Drew Brees go. LT will be LT, but he's going to suffer while Rivers develops. And KC will find out that Herm isn't all he's cracked up to be. I'm not a Herm guy. He's a horrible game manager, game planner and motivator. On occasion he puts it together and his team looks like world beaters. But, most weeks he's outcoached. KC will regress this year, and the media (of which Herm is a darling) will say it's because of Roaf retiring and Holmes being hurt. It's not. It's Herm. He's a horrible coach.

:goodposting: Maybe I'm completely wrong (time will tell), but I see an improved Cincy defense as a prime reason that they will win the division. (FWIW, I'm a big fan of Ben, Ward and Cowher, but don't see them winning the division)

And nevermind the fact that if the Steelers hadn't lost Roethlisberger for a few games during the regular season, they'd have won the division last year, too.And never mind that Palmer didn't light up the Steelers' secondary in EITHER matchup last year... his passing stats were almost identical in the 2nd matchup except that he threw the 3 TDs instead of 2 INTs. The Bengals won the 2nd matchup because they forced 5 turnovers and got a special teams TD, and they still won by only a TD.Like Godsbrother pointed out - it'll come down to the Bengals' defense again. How much did improve? We'll see. It's going to be a great battle for the division this year, but the thought that the Bengals would've automatcially won in the playoffs last year had Palmer not gotten hurt is ludicrous. It would've given them a shot to win, but that's about it.

Everyone has an opinion, it doesnt become fact until the season is over. I am saying the Bengals win the division and challenge the Broncos for a trip to the Super Bowl.

And I am not necessarily arguing with you. But it will only happen if the Bengals defense has improved over last season.

Miami, Cincy, Indy, KC
I went the same. I think NE's defense is in too bad a shape, plus lack of WRs. Cinci - Palmer looked scary good against GB (yeah, yeah, I know.. pre-season, green bay... still... he looked like me playing Madden at rookie!). Indi.. still darn good. The West was the tough one to choose between KC and Denver, but I think KC improved their defense just enough to get them over Denver.
