Chris Brown (1 Viewer)

There was a lot of chatter about Henry being the starter last week, but it seems Brown has locked up the job. He's got a good matchup with NYJ, and when healthy has been a decent start. I've been toying with the idea of starting him over KJ (who has a bad matchup vs Seattle).

Anyone else think he could post decent numbers? Fisher has eluded to getting back to running the ball A LOT in preseason.

Just a gut feeling, but I think he'll put up close to 100 rushing and 1 td.

I'm playing him over Ahman Green. Not wild about either situation though. Last year was miserable for Brown even when he did play. The Titans could be in the running for Adrian Peterson next draft. They are B-A-D = pass the ball when behind. The Jets run D is (should be) awful.

Hopefully he takes this oppurtunity and runs with it.

Oh, well. In one league I have to start both Brown and Green. I passed on drafting White to complement ;) .Fortunately my WRs are pretty good and my RB were cheap

Awful??? How does a team that ranked 12 in total team defense last year equal awful? And they have gone from a 4-3 to the 3-4...giving them more of a run block D.

Brown is not a good play this week due to the fact that he is Chris Brown....enough said.

And the Jets D holds him to 70 yards MAX!!!!!

Use him while you can, eh? There are plenty of worse options out there this week.
That's what I'm thinking. I'm not ready to throw Lundy out there yet, so Brown gets the nod at flex this week. I'll be happy with 80+ total yards. A TD would be a bonus.

I don't see any reason to think the Titans would draft Peterson if they end up back in the top-5. They spent 2 first day picks on RB this year and DESPERATELY need a WR like...oh....Calvin Johnson.

I can easily see him losing some carries to the other guys. You might want to wait and see how that RB situation shakes out first. Being named the starter isn't enough for me, because they've got two other backs that could very likely steal some carries.

Where would Vince Young have been drafted if he just declared as a RB like Brad Smith. Probably Top 20 still. Ditching Volek (?) they must be serious about Young at QB. Power backfield with Peterson.

WELL - smart guy- The Jets ranked 29th in the NFL allowing 136.6 rushing yards per game last year and were 28th in rushing TDs allowed with 19.

I believe that counts as awful against the run. :bye:

Methinks not

They also held opponents to 3.9ypc, which ranks in the upper half of the league.

Matt Jones never played wide receiver and was what the 20th or 21st pick? Young ran all the time at Texas. Definetly has the talent to be a NFL RB. Heck Michael Robinson is backing up in San Fran. He still would have been a Top pick.

Young isn't a superfreak like Vick, hes just a good runner for a QB. Plus, I haven't seen a 6-5 RB in a minute.

He would have to be more useful than JJ Arrington at this point. Again if a former Penn St. QB is a NFL back up my money is on Young making it at RB. The whole point here was responding to Colin Dowling's comment that the Titans had used 2 first day picks at RB this year.

I wasn't referring to Young in my comment.

Who was the other first day RB? Did they burn another pick to Move up to LenDale?

Jets were not bad against the run on a per-carry basis. They were bad in total yards, but that had to do with a poor offense that never stayed on the field and left the Jets trailing a lot. When the other team is ahead, they run a lot. Also, with a new system and new starters on the D-line and at at LB, it's hard to see how relevant last year's ranking are to evaluating the strength of the Jets run-D.

how is the bolded portion above different than what we expect for this year?

It looks as if rookie running back LenDale White might not be in uniform against the Jets.

White was limited in practice Thursday as he continues to be slowed with an ankle injury.

Fisher said "we're definitely going to go with" Chris Brown and Travis Henry, and White will be evaluated later.

"If he is struggling through (today)," Fisher said, "then I think the likelihood of him not being active increases."

Risky call on this IMO.

Henry was named the starter for a reason, and whether or not he does start... he will get carries. He has obviously done enough to warrant starting consideration.

If Brown fumbles or if he gets stuffed a few times... Henry will definately be in there PLUS Henry is their 3rd down back.

Just to clarify, Henry was never named the starter. That was a reporter who started that rumor.

Nobody has ever named Henry the starter except for CBSSportsline.

Interesting. This just proves that people will believe anything they read/hear without checking it out. CBS was the only one reporting this and it was quickly determined to be wrong. And yet clearly some poeple still think it was true. This explains why so many people never know what's going on. No wonder rumors live on and on. I wonder how many he told that Henry is the starter? I wonder if he avoided drafting Brown based on thinking Henry was the starter.
