Chris Henry Going Soft? (1 Viewer)

From ESPN's Len Pasquerelli:

Despite missing two games because of a league-mandated suspension, and another contest in which coach Marvin Lewis opted to sanction him, the numbers posted by Cincinnati wide receiver Chris Henry this season (29 catches, 451 yards, seven touchdowns) are in some ways superior to the stats (31 receptions, 422 yards, six touchdowns) of his 2005 rookie campaign. But there are some in the Bengals' organization who feel that Henry has been a tad shy about going over the middle ever since Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark laid a big hit on him back in September. The notion that Henry is getting contact-shy was further fueled on Monday night when, in the loss at Indianapolis, he short-armed two deep passes.

that's because the law drags him down with all the arrests...if they just left him alone he would still be fearless

... must be the handcuffs...

I have distinctly noticed this about Henry over the past month.

Short-arming passes and not making consistent catches in a crowd and generally lacking toughness.

Looks like he'll simply be a stretch the field WR as he makes Todd Pinkston look like Anquan Boldin.

Was just going to post something similar. Ive noticed that it looks like the guy is very afraid of contactWuss

Chris Henry sure doesn't seem to fight for the ball very well. If it's not in his chest, he sticks one hand out and hopes to reel it in.
I posted that in the game thread from Monday night. On various occasions this year, most notably the late INT pass that Palmer thought he should try harder for at the end of their first meeting with Baltimore, he seems to take the Randy Moss approach in attacking the ball.

Maybe he's practicing for the pen.

If he's there, he wouldn't want to get caught with his arms too far from his butt.

granted, i don't see him every week in philly, but there's no way he's as bad as todd pinkston. i think henry will be a starter in the league soon and probably a star.

Henry: "I don't want to be charged with possession."

Seriously though... I watch all the games and ever since Clark rung his bell, he's been the biggest ##### I've ever seen.

Ryan Clark can really hit. He's the DB who Todd Pinkston was trying to avoid when he decided not to catch that pass last year.

he probably just needs to get arrested again so he can get back into his rhythm :wall:

the week after he robs a Denny's he's likely to go 6/87 and 2 TDs followed by another strong game until he gets a 2 game  suspension for about the fourth time

Clark can hit, but the guy who recently took over his spot and will start next year can hit even harder, and is certainly a better all around safety. None other than rookie Anthony Smith. He's laid out some guys on some special teams tackles recently and w/ Polamalu's injury has been boosted to starter. Regardless of injuries, definitely their starting safety opposite of Troy next year IMO
