This explains the signing of backup RB Julius Jones IMO.

Uuuummm no, that is not why they signed Jones. His felony assault charge does not put him at risk to be suspended. They probably signed Jones because PT's injury is worse than anticipated.

I posted it in the Thomas thread but Payton said today Jones was signed as Thomas insurance in case he couldn't play this week.

Not suspended but if sentenced he would be out of action a few months. I though since WWL just broke this that the time frame was sooner rather than later for that to transpire.

jones was signed because Betts/Ivory are terrible.
and Jones isn't?
Yep, that's like Rosanne Barr telling Sandra Burnhard she's ugly.
no doubt but they are moving on from experiment #1 and onto #2. Also know as the "throw #### against the wall and see what sticks" method of replacing a player

Then grabs herself and spits.

I see on the Saints roster, they assigned Jones jersey #21. Same number worn by Mike Bell, Chip Vaughn and Deshawn Wynn. He won't be here long. 2 weeks tops IMO

I do believe Payton was the OC when Jones was still with the Cowboys. Perhaps he's trying to redo some stuff he thought worked in big D.
