Chris Johnson going forward (1 Viewer)

Any chance they shut him down (or limit his carries) late in the year when the games are even more meaningless than they are now. How would VY taking the helm affect his performance? Seems like a good buy low, but not without risk and price still high based on last year and 2 big games he's had this year, one of them being his last game.

Can you give any reasonable reason they would shut him down? Any reason at all?
Didn't mean totally shutting him down, but limiting carries - pure conjecture on possibly not wanting to injure one of the most explosive backs in the NFL in the midst of a lost season in his second year. More importantly - why are you reacting so angrily to a post? If you don't like the topic don't respond clown. Unless you are Mrs. Johnson you shouldn't take it so personally. Creature.

:goodposting: I try not to buy low when the price is still high.

Is the point of this forum to share opinions on guys trying to get an edge in your respective league or to nitpick posts trying to be funny / overreact to opening statements trying to start a dialogue like some kind of all knowing fantasy badass? Clearly the implication was that he seems like a good buy low candidate based on performance thus far relative to draft position, but it depends on the current owner's opinion of his prospects relative to where you as the potential acquirer view his prospects to determine if it is a good low buy value. Did I make that clear enough for you or should I draw some diagrams? Can't understand the psyche, or boredom, of anyone who would read this site to get into pissing matches over meaningless $***, but lotta losers out there.

 Sorry man, but you have come out swinging after the first two responses. I'm not looking for an argument, but what possible reason would the Titans have for limiting his carries if he is their most explosive option on offense and thus gives them the best chance to win?The Titans have no chance at catching the Colts who are 6-0 now and little to no chance of getting a Wildcard berth which are held by a 5-2 team and a 4-3 team. So, why not shut him down now? If CJ ends up nursing an injury I could see the Titans being cautious, because it is a lost season, and playing White and Ringer and holding him out. But, otherwise I can't see it happening.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, and my intent was not to get in a pis sing match, so I'll be cordial. I think there is zero chance that the Titans limit the number of times their franchise player touches the ball. I don't think his value changes much one way or the other based on if KC or VY is at QB. (Similar to how AP's value didn't change a whole lot from Tavarius Jackson to Brett Favre)Edit: The reason for my first post being so brief is that I felt you answered your own question. CJ is not a buy low because the price is too high. I guess if you wanted to buy, you could try to convince the owner that they will limit his touches to try to lower his value in that owners eyes, but that might be a daunting task.

Thanks. I agree, but was trying to consider NFL's self-delusion of when a season is truly over and if anyone factors in team contention to personnel and play calling when looking at FF. Think the opinions on the site are some of the best out there and never get mad when people disagree with the substance anything I write or ask. most of the time just want to get a topic started and hear knowledgeable opinions. Was objecting to the earlier poster's reaction to the question like he was personally offended by the post. Think this site is best served when people are giving informed opinions not trying to prove how smart they are b/c at the end of the day we're trying to win our leagues not impress anonymous strangers. For a sample of what I mean check out any post involving Mike Bell/PT or Marshan/FJax. Lot of angry posts. All good though and appreciate the response.

No worries. All good. More a general question of how a team being in shambles affects a player's value. If the Titans were 3-3 I think CJ would look like a huge buy low if you knew the owner was stressing his inconsistent start b/c his performance would seem like an aberration to a buyer, but if you think he is having a relatively down year b/c Titans can't stop anyone causing to play from behind and have a horrible passing game including uncertain QB future leading to more 8-man fronts than maybe he plays at this level all year and his value probably is what it is. Could have made my question a little clearer, but I expected more here's what I expect rest of the way and why type predictions rather than focus on the sub-post. Appreciate the response.

I would think CJ's role in the offense will increase going forward. The Titans had the bye week to work on their offense and I would think they have designed plays to get him the ball in space. If they throw more screen and dump passes to CJ, he has the moves and speed to make people miss. The Titans' passing game wasn't scaring anybody and they had to abandon the run because they were playing from behind most of the time. Fisher should have addressed their offensive strategy during the bye and probably changed their overall plan of attack. With regard to the buy low portion of your question, I agree with shredhead it will be a daunting task. I have never had any luck buying low on a guy's high 1st round pick. They always come back with"But he's a top 8 pick!" when I make my offer. So, I'm no help to you here.

Traded away Mendy and Bradshaw for him last week. PPR. Most folks in the league thought it was a pretty even deal. Other team was dealing with RB depth issues.

I think you need to seriously calm down. If anyone was trying to piss you off with some silly comment you would clealry know it. Grow some thicker skin.

There's really no reason they would shut him down unless he got hurt. Teams don't do that kind of thing.

Frankly, you asked a stupid question. The first two responses were rather nice and entirely reasonable.

I don't know why they would ever do such a thing. Should they start benching all their starters just to prevent possible injuries?

Who am I? said:
Thinking of trading him for a top WR.Like Ocho or R. White.Giving up too much?Other RB's are MJD and Rice.
I turned down an Ocho offer for him. I also own MJD and Rice (Dynasty League). If you could get him for either of those guys, considering you have good WR depth, I would do it. If you are winning and need those receivers to continue to do so it may not be worth the risk. It depends on your scoring system (ppr, flex players, etc) and if you are in a Dynasty League. Probably wouldn't do it in a redraft unless you are stacked at WR. He is currently being hurt by the overall team performance and may not give you what those guys do.

Outside of injury I can't see a good reason they would shut CJ down per se. I can see a reason his touches would dip slightly - two actually:

1) If Tennessee flips back to VY, they could actually get even worse making the running game less of an option than it already is.

2) If there was some sort of an effort to get White a few more touches per game to raise his trade value a little (if they are indeed going to trade White).

Trade deadline is over and gone. Lendale is also a UFA after this year. While it would be a questionable (and not likely) move by TEN, they could want to limit his value on the open market and play him less

He's not a FA unless they sign a new CBA. If it's an uncapped year he stays with the Titans.

or perhaps VY not being as good a downfield passer as Collins might force feed dump offs to the RB alla Orton with Forte. That in turn may increase Johnsons value. Teams may also have to shadow VY as a running threat which may free up CJ a little more (the shadow may not strictly be on him). I do think it will hurt the offense from a moving the chains POV but it really can't get worse than the NE game.
