Chris Perry (1 Viewer)

I hear he could be coming back in a few weeks.

Does anyone know what was wrong with his ankle in the first place? Did he have Jamal Lewis/Curt Schilling surgery? If so, he probably won't be full speed all year. But if it was something less serious, maybe he makes a big impact later in the season....

September 26, 2006, 20:47 Bengals :: RBRB C. Perry Could Be Back For CarolinaMark Curnutte, Cincinnati Enquirer - [Full Article]RB Chris Perry could make a speedy comeback and be ready for the Carolina Panther game on October 22nd. "He continues to work hard and is back to doing some of the football reactive type work that I think he was a little bit apprehensive doing right at the start," HC Marvin Lewis said of Perry. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------September 25, 2006, 15:47 Bengals :: RBBengals RB C. Perry Making ProgressGeoff Hobson, Bengals.com - [Full Article]On Monday, Cincinnati Bengals HC Marvin Lewis had encouraging news on RB Chris Perry (ankle). Perry is eligible to return to practice after the Tampa game. Lewis said it looks like Perry won't need to be shelved long before he gets activated.

I just grabbed him off of waivers yesterday for $1. After week 6 when everyone in your league knows he is coming off the PUP list, there will likely be a bidding war for him in leagues which don't use a waiver priority system. Also, Cincy has a good chance to lose only a couple of games this year, thus wrapping up the AFC North early. Teams with week 17 championship games might see Perry get 80% (if not ALL) of the carries in that final week. At worst, you could dangle him to the Rudi owner in exchange for someone else on his roster. If you have room to stash him on your roster, it would probably be a wise move. And if Rudi ever got hurt, Perry has a good shot to be a Top-7 back.

Chris Perry: Making Progress - 9/27/2006 10:01:40 AM

Update:

Perry (ankle), eligible to return to practice after the Tampa Bay game (October 16), appears to be in good shape and likely would not need to be shelved long before he gets back into a game once he returns, according to the Official Team Website.

Recommendation:

"He (Perry) continues to work hard and is back to doing some of the football reactive type work that I think he was a little bit apprehensive about doing at the start," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "He feels a lot better about that. I think we’ll have the opportunity to move him to the 53-man roster pretty early in that process." For those with an extra roster spot and an eye towards the future, Perry could be worth taking a flier on as both a handcuff to Rudi Johnson and also as someone likely to get about 10 touches per game in the high-powered Bengals offense.

Chris Perry is a Larry Johnson type player....a player that has gone unnoticed early inhis career but has the "horseness" to lead the league in rushing when he gets his chance.

Horseness ??? If he was horse like he would have been be euthanized a long time ago. He's more fragile than Freddy.

All those injuries haven't gone unnoticed. As long as Rudi Johnson is in Cincy, Perry is no more than a 3rd down back, and a pretty good one when he's healthy.

I think a healthy, starting Perry has top-5 potential. The health is the biggest question.

I grabbed Kenny Watson off the wire just as a guy to stash on my roster in case Rudi went down. Now that Perry will be coming back healthy soon I can easily grab Perry and drop Watson. I can easily sit on Perry for the coming weeks as easilly as I have sat on Watson for the past three. Just crossing my fingers that rusi does not go down between now and when Perry is cleared to come back.

Rudi Johnson is an iron man :knocksonwood: & :praystofantasygods:

You're kidding right?Charles Rogers also has top 5 wr potential. David Carr and Harrington have top 5 potential. TJ Duckett has top 5 potential. Lelie has top 5 wr potential.Every rookie drafted in the 1st round has top 5 "potential". Drew has had a better career game then Chris Perry, and it took him 3 games. Perry is 36 games into his career, and he's pretty much done jack. He has a bad attitude, he's always hurt, and he's living on his college hype.Mike Williams was a sick college WR, big deal. Dayne was a beast in college. Big deal. After 2+ years, you can't even stay on the field, it's time to drop the "top 5 potential stuff". At this point, Perry can't even stay healthy enough to be a 3rd down back. And you have him as a starting RB, who can carry the load, put up 1600 total yards and 10+ TDs? Based on what? His 2 years of sucking? Dear God please don't tell me you're basing this on his days at Michigan. Drew Henson was pretty good at Michigan too. How's that working for him? There are probably 200 talented players, with lots of "potential" drafted in the last 5 years who are now selling life insurance. At this point, if Perry can stay healthy enough to be a 3rd down back, Cinci would be ecstatic. He'll be a top 5 RB when Mike Williams is a top 5 wr.

However, Perry hasn't started a game for CIN right? (never had more than 9 carries in a game) He nailed down 51 recs in limited time last year. He averaged 4.6 ypc in 2005. He's capable of at least 1200 yards with that avg. in a starting role. Throw in his receiving potential and he's a legit RB1. He just needs the opportunity, he has everything else.

But you're proving my point. If he was better (like McGahee over Henry), he'd get a start. In 3 years, he'll have been healthy for 1/2 of it. He can't even be a successful backup. Let alone 3rd down back. He's miles from a starting RB. Lets see him stay healthy with limit carries before we make him a top 10 RB. And no, he doesn't have everything else. He's proven he can't stay healthy. He's never carried the load at the NFL level. He's had a little success as a 3rd down back, but has missed 50% of his 1st 3 years.I have a hard time looking at his limited time as a 3rd down back, and projecting top 10 RB once he "gets his shot". The first step in that, is staying health. Baby steps.

The other problem is that the guy ahead of him is probably the most durable starting RB going.I may take a chance on him in a PPR league, but you're likely wasting your time if you're waiting for Rudi to get hurt.

Very :goodposting:

In another similar conversation I asked an owner why Chris Perry is still so hyped and why Lee Suggs is not. Would you rather be behind Ronnie Brown or Rudi Johnson?

Hasn't an infrequent glimpse of a healthy starting Suggs been just as viable to become a stud as what we've seen of Perry? I'm not predicting Suggs will become a stud given how his career has gone but I think Perry has moved closer to stash and hope than to future stud.

Easy...Johnson, because he plays for Cincy, one of the best offenses in the league. Suggs for Miami is top 15, Perry for Cincy is top 6.

It's ok, because I've already :knockedonwood: and :prayedtofantasygods: after I made the iron man remark, so any jinx talk now is moot ;)

Chris Perry - a questionable first round draft pick at the time, and the bigger question - why hasn't he been arrested with all of his non-active time on the field? ;)

???Rudi was a 4th round pick...it's ancient history.Spuds Mackenzie could gain 100 yards behind that line.

his surgery was later than anyone wanted but had to be done
Yeah, I wonder if it could've been done earlier to keep him from having to miss these first 6. He gives the offense such an added dimension. As scary as the offense is, it's more dangerous with Perry in the mix.

Sounds like you are describing Shaun Alexander 6 days ago.

poor doc diagnosis and evaluation. Pathetically it happens

anything new to report? he's eligible after sundays game.
(KFFL) Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals RB Chris Perry (ankle) is making progress on the team's Physically Unable to Perform list. Head coach Marvin Lewis said Perry "continues to improve and looks to be able to come off that list when that time period is over."
