Chris Simms (splenectomy) is expected to be placed on injured reserve as soon as Luke McCown (knee) is ready to come off the PUP list.

The St. Petersburg Times suspects Simms' days in Tampa Bay are over and that rookie Bruce Gradkowski, suddenly the savior despite an 0-1 start, better fits Jon Gruden's style of quarterback.

I can't help but feel for Simms on this one. The contract situation wasn't smart, but he had some promise, and that injury has me feeling a little bit of sympathy for him...

Can't say I blame the Bucs though...
