Cinn Defense (1 Viewer)

I was sure that Balt offense was going to stomp all over Cinn at home. But 5 weeks into the season are they fool's gold or GOLD?

Cincy DBs have been playing well all season, JJoseph playing Pro Bowl quality corner. Leon has put in some great games too, but he will occasionally get beat deep. The real reason the secondary has done well is because of the front 7 getting pressure on the QB. This is the most sacks they've ever had at this point of the season as far as I can remember.

Yoda (Dungy) said so after week 1. And I tend to believe him. He loves their LBs...and isn't most of their DEF a top 10 first round pick at this point?

They fo' real....

Last year, they were the 11th (or so) best ranked def. And thats with them having the worst or close to the worst offense last year. Carrying over from last year with the additions of Tank, Roy Will, Rey-Rey Maualuga, and the rest of the guys. Zimmer has them playing like mad men...

Technically, they only gave up 7pts to the Ravens "vaunted" offense yesterday... (carson's pick 6 was the other TD)

so YES, they are fo'real

Health, depth and buying into Zimmer's system. Starts up front. Everyone's healthy, Odom added some weight, added Tank and Michael Johnson. At LB you've got two young playmakers on the outside and a intellegent vet in the middle to run the show. Hall and Joseph are young corners coming into thier prime. Added another leader, Roy Williams, at safety and you know Ndukwe is going to make plays. One big difference from last year is everyone's healthy. Bengals had over 20 on IR last year. They are also deep with above average guys at almost every spot. They need another corner, but Trent's been better than he was at Michigan. Last but not least is the rookie punter, giving out great field position.

I think yesterday they reached a little deeper than they normally would have. Mike Zimmers wife ( Vicki Zimmer) died last week and they were playing very inspired ball for their coach. Props to them for that! I think otherwise they are a decent defense but not elite. Certainly worth spot starting when your #1 defense is on bye or has a bad matchup.

Yeah, I think Cincy's D was a bit underrated last year. They played well but the offense was terrible. This year with Benson running the ball well and Palmer back, they don't have as much pressure on them. Thinking about grabbing them off the wire this week.

:goodposting: This pretty much sums it up. I'm also loving DT Pat Sims' . All of the sudden we have depth on the Dline, which is an area that has been neglected for years.

It was not just the emotional high, look at the list of prime WRs they have shut down, 1) Brandon Marshall/Eddie Royal, Patriots couldnt stop them 2) Greg Jennings (goose egg) 3) Santonio Holmes4) Braylon Edwards (goose egg I believe), 5) Derek Mason got a big fat goose egg and he has been on fire.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Andre Johnson this week.
