CJ Anderson (4 Viewers)

That makes no sense based on the mechanism of injury. Meniscus. But, if it's true, it still makes no sense... meniscus surgery would only hold him out for about 4 weeks. James Starks had his meniscus operated on. He is coming back soon. If it were a meniscus repair, yes he is done. Meniscectomy, no.
And this is why even medical people that haven't examined the patient aren't necessarily authoritative on a given person's prognosis.  It's not a personal attack on you, but you are basing your opinion on what you saw on TV and making an assumption on what caused it because that's all you have access to.  If you had examined the patient and the records you would have access to medical facts and be able to make a much more informed response.

Right at the end of that play it looked to me like he got his cleat stuck in the turf and twisted the knee at that point, that's where I thought it happened.

Broncos placed RB C.J. Anderson (knee scope) on injured reserve.

He's undergoing arthroscopic surgery. He'll be a candidate to return in eight weeks, but obviously won't be a factor the rest of the fantasy season. He's free to drop in all re-draft formats. The Broncos will move forward with Devontae Booker as their workhorse, and Kapri Bibbs as their No. 2. Anderson has shown flashes of being a difference-making back every season, but has struggled with his health. It will be tough for the Broncos to rely on him as a clear No. 1 in 2017.

I would think so. Big Ben had surgery on his torn meniscus about 10 days ago and if he is "likely heading to IR" as CJ Anderson, then there is another scoop waiting to happen.
You can repair it (better for long term health) and be out for a good amount of time or remove it (quicker return, but problematic down the road).

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd rather hear someone that actually knows about this stuff give his take on what it could be than hear nothing.

Me too.  As long as it's kept to the "could be" and "likely" and not passed off as definitive or authoritative.  Again, not an attack on Brew because he's good about being clear he's not trying to do so, but far too often we get info or worse media reports with no such scruples.

Dr Brew is great here. I enjoy him far more than Bramel.  Both just give an OPINION on what they see, words they hear, pictures etc.  Being in those fields it helps.  They know more than I so I enjoy reading it.

This is a great example of not knowing the specifics of a particular patient. You can watch a video of an injury over and over and still be wrong about what actually happened.

We still don't know exactly what happened... he had an arthroscopy, which could be anything, but if they are saying he will be back in 8 weeks then a repair of some ligament is unlikely. Meniscus repair is more likely because that would be about 4 weeks non weight bearing followed by gradual return to normal activity. IMO 8 weeks is optimistic. Meniscectomy means they cut away the torn meniscus, repair means he tore it in the only spot on the meniscus that has a half decent blood supply, and repair is better for the long term but actually quite rarely done except for athletes (and the tear has to be just right).

I would hold the biased opinion that medical advice from a medical person is worth more than medical advice from a shoemaker. I do try to point out that I am basing my postings off of what I know professionally, not what I know about that particular person. People can take it for what it's worth. Many people would have shrugged off a second opinion saying he played the entire game after that injury just fine. That was a huge red flag for me and I wanted to make sure everyone here had an advantage to grab Booker if they could.

Dropped for Kenny Britt (bench WR support).   Bad yr for RBs again.   Started the year with Gurley, Martian and CJ, thought this combo would be the strength of my team.   Guess not!  Lol

There was an unusual stretch of 4-6 round RB busts this year. I remember seeing Martin, CJ, Foster, Langford and Rawls and thinking they'd all be good options. Killed me in my big money league.

Anyone think it is worth waiting until he actually goes through with the surgery before dropping in re-draft?

Best theoretical scenario is maybe 4 weeks and even then will he possibly be a fantasy difference maker?  So we are talking like a 1% chance of being useful?

With this news...who would you value ROS.

Have an offer from the CJ owner in one league.  He wants Booker and will give me Ware.  There are other parts to it...but the gist is those 2.

Who would you rather have in a TD heavy league.

Ware, if only because he has already shown what he can do toting the rock full time. I think he has a good shot being a Top 10 ROS.

While Booker should get vast majority of the carries (~75%?) we don't know if his utility will change for goalline situations, how much his reception ability in PPR may or may not be affected by the role Juice Pouch (AKA Kapri Bibbs) will have, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I think Booker has a shot at being superb ROS. Just we know what we have in Ware already through 7 weeks in the main role.

Bird in hand and all.

IMO Booker is top 7-10 ROS. I would value him at the same level as Elliot, McCoy

Ware I think is a good offer. He is dominating even with Charles back. Whether they ease Charles in more remains to be seen but IMO his days as a starter were numbered long ago.

Ware has a better playoff schedule than Booker... so there's that

CJ was just dropped in a big money league.  14 teams, ppr, 7 bench spots with money payouts for both w/l records and total points.

* i've owned Booker since draft.

Why are you telling us all the details of your league?  Do you think anyone cares what the payouts are?
As to what the thinking might be behind the cut/drop. Its data on the situation as others may be thinking about cutting also. This before any IR placement and much being unknown.

Dont take/make everything so personal.

Wow, a little optimistic comparison to Zeke - even Shady.

I hope you're right but I think the opportunity now is going to be rosier than reality. Let's see how he fares as a 3-down back in a game or two.
A friend of mine who also has Booker was offered Gurley by the CJ owner in another league (friend is in my league). In our league where I have Booker, the same friend asked my cousin about the offer he received (my cousin has Gurley) and my cousin told him to hold on Booker.

So, that's two Gurley owners who value Booker more. I'm curious if that's the general type feeling, and if people think Booker is a potential season changer.

Replies like this really aggravate me.

This is a fantasy football site, that's why he posted it.
I disagree completely but maybe I am not understanding the value of that information. We are in a CJA thread. Now that you know his league pays out for best record and points, how does that affect your opinion or decisions on CJA?

I just ignore the post and move on to the next post in the thread.

I'm confused. Is CJA going on IR or has that not been determined yet? I've got both him and Booker and need to get Bibbs on my team before someone else does but don't want to drop CJ if he might play again this year.

Booker plays in a top rushing offense, is probably better than C.J. in this scheme, is fresh ... having almost no tread on his tires, halfway through the fantasy regular season. This setup is what dreams are made of.

If I would have just not traded Ajayi I would have had two fresh and upward trending RBs to run with. Ugh.

Hoping that Dwayne Washington hype train gets rolling this weekend! Ha!

Denver also plays run-heavy -- 7th overall in attempts, though 14th overall in yards (18th in yards per attempt) and 16th in YPG. Will be interesting to see if this shifts at all given Booker's skills or not. Offensive line is better than last year, but still a work in progress.

Booker has all the opportunity in the world, and tools to excel. Let's see if he seizes the brass ring and makes this opportunity count.

If he can't get this thing kick started facing SD/OAK/NO to start his career off as the starter, being fresh in this offense ... I'd be a worried over the following bye week. The table is set.

I would expect production similar to what we were getting from CJ...with maybe a few more big plays. CJ was not comparable to either Zeke or Shady.

Booker has been sitting as the general #1 RB Lotto Ticket for some time now in this thread:  2016 RB Lotto Ticket Rankings

take a look at the rb rankings in your league. after the top 10 it's kind of embarassing. who on that list will do better than booker ROS?

CJ was borderline top 10 in a timeshare! combine booker and CJs stats thus far and where does that put them in the rankings?

681/5 rushing, 25/197/1 receiving

shady: 598/6, 20/97/1

zeke: 703/, 7/98/0

so I beg to differ that booker shouldn't be in the same conversation as those two. if anything, CJs stats bring bookers down as booker was doing better than him at the start

My take - I'd value Booker around the back end of the top-10 RBs right now.  He's got ceiling for more, but I'm kinda with @Stompin' Tom Connors here personally.  I'd much rather own Ware because I believe Ware's more proven.  His schedule is just as strong.  I don't think Charles is a threat.  We've seen what Ware can do with the full load, and it's league winning.

Booker has a shot at the full load, but we haven't seen him do it -- and while I think Booker's probably staring at 25 touches a week, Kapri Bibbs isn't useless.  Kubiak just saw his team look their best with Siemian in a limited, game manager role while they ran the crap out of the football.  I would bet they continue doing that with Booker taking as much as he can and Bibbs getting 10-12 touches.  What happens from there?  What if Bibbs looks really good?

Bird in the hand is right, IMO.  Agreed with everyone saying Booker is a potential season changer and league winner, but I'd rather have Spencer Ware.

I don't think we can assume he's going to get ALL of CJ's work as well as his own... I think that's the point.  Could he?  I suppose so.  Will he?  Let's see it first.  There are a very limited number of workhorse backs in the NFL for a reason - it's not an easy job.

no but it's not a crazy assumption either
