Clarification: Are NFL PUP and Short-Term IR the same thing? (1 Viewer)

For some reason I'm not totally sure on this. Need to know for Dynasty purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Players placed on PUP to start the Season are eligible to be evaluated and potentially return after 6 weeks...is that Short-Term IR, or is Short-Term IR something completely different?

TIA, fellas. TIA.

They are different, but both require the player to sit for at least 6 weeks.

Short Term IR = the player is eligible to return in 8 weeks. Can be put on the list anytime during the regular season, but teams are only allowed to use ONE Short Term slot per year.

PUP = the player must sit for first 6 weeks of the season. After that, the player is allowed to practice for up to 3 weeks before he must either be activated, cut, or placed on IR. Note that you must put a player on the PUP list during preseason. You can't put him on the PUP list after the season starts.
