some serious stage 1 in progress.

These guys easily have the highest ranked bases 1-n and I think they are throwing #50 out as schtick too. He's got L3 drags with only one cannon defending.

Their top end guys have 130 clan war stars total more or less, somewhat in the same category as our top guys.

Our biggest trouble will be our 30-50 getting 3 stars on their 30-50.

May have to start at +10 this time, or even worse than that and let the 35+ guys sit out the first round for further instructions.

 
those of you who hit TH8 recently, did you redo your war base immediately with the new toys even though they are at lower levels? Or keep TH7 layout until the defense buildings are upgraded somewhat?
I redid mine immediately. The new defenses leveled up pretty quickly - not all the way - but enough to be useful. I got two starred the first war and I would have given three other wise. Not attacked since.

I'm not 100% on 3-starring my +5. There's nothing special about his base, but it's just designed to be a tough hog-run. There are a lot of open spaces so I can't guess where the bombs are and I've been having bad luck with hog runs as I still sorta suck at them.

That said, sounds like there won't be a lot of easy outs in this one anyway, so it's not imperative that I switch. But I'm not going to say I'm 100% on 3-starring him, is all.

Could be strategy rather than schtick. His pathetic defenses pull down their matchmaking score while his upgraded offense still allows him to help with troop donations and winning a bunch of stars as well.

 
Idk if I can take out #32, but I think a good drag rush will do it.

10 Level 3 drags. Barb King level 5. Another CC drag and balloon.

Right now I have 2 heal 1 rage...would it be better to triple lightning and take out one of those air d?

Here's how I'd approach #32

1. 3x lightning the bottom air def near TH

2. deploy dragons along top left side, his CC troops should draw your dragons to the top left AD, dragons kill CC troops then AD

3. target top right air def, ask for hogs in CC (wait for dragons to trigger his CC troops before dropping hogs)

a) drop BK at 2 o'clock to target gold mine. BK will tank canon/arch tower near 2 o'clock (don't forget to use heal ability when BK gets low)

b) deploy hogs at 2 o'clock near canon, hogs should take out canon -> archer tower -> AD

**make sure to have 1 dragon take out the elixir collector at 12 o'clock, otherwise dragons might path to towards it rather than towards the center. You can do drop 1 dragon right before triple lightning the bottom AD, or simple make sure to do this during step 2.

The Shuriken base listed at the beginning of the thread has been solid for me. I've been at th8 for about 2 weeks, haven't been 2 starred yet.

 
Looked at these guys up and down +5 is doable. There are some problems for L2 dragon rushers in pockets.

IF YOU CAN'T 3*** YOUR PLUS 5 THEN WAIT FOR DOUBLE CLEANUP DUTY AT >+6 AND SAY SO IN HERE WITH THE BASE # YOU ARE BAILING ON.

Don't need to be cleaning up anything under 20 if at all possible

Ranks 1-10 exempt and should coordinate.

And someone better start sending carrier pigeons to gary and dlee. Gonna need them to attack 2x.

I can handle my plus 5 with L3 Drags.

Does anyone disagree with this strategy;

Zap south AA

Deploy Drags on west side where the DE Storage is (should get to the west AA quickly.)

Drop BK in North Corner

Fill CC with Archers and drop in West Corner

Dominate?

I can take my +5 as well (28). His 3 AA are level 4 so he will be an easy dragon rush. If somebody around me has level 2 dragons and their +5 has stronger I have no problem switching.

Or going +10 if we go that route.

 
My +5 is a TH7 and as such will go down to dragons no problem. I'll save my second attack to clean up whatever I can (probably dlee's dude /linak)

 
I think what culdeus said might end up being best... we use +5 to start at looking at assignments, but if you don't think you will 3-star them, don't waste the attack. Talk it out and see if there's another base that fits you better. In some cases, there might be a better base a little higher or lower than +5 that someone else can switch with you.

 
Long time follower here, I need to know the name of this opposing clan that seems to have struck some fear in the might FBG war machine. I want to search and look at them.

 
We've faced clans whose bases probably had higher tower levels than ours overall. But this is probably the clan that has the most bases with well thought out designs that will make attacks more difficult.

 
My plus 5 (#20) is a tough 3 star for me. I have level 3 dragon and hogs FYI. If anyone wants to weigh in on a possible strat I'm all ears. Looks like there are double big bomb potentials on all 4 sides, so it would be a guessing game for hogs. I'm not sure if I send in one on each of those sides if the hog will actually go into that big gap to attack and trigger the bombs. I don't think it would... The AAs seem to centralized to dragon rush, but I just got the lvl 3s so maybe I don't have a good sense for how well they do.

11 lvl 3 dragons should get that done. I attached #16 in our last war with a similar AA setup and they were all level 5 as well. I just watched the replay and I made it through in 90 seconds with 5 or 6 dragons left. Lvl 3 dragons can get through a lot.

Looking at #20 I would zap the east most AA and come in from the west side. I like to use my bk on the edge of the map to keep my dragons more inward so you could drop him on the north or south sides if your dragons start to track that way instead of towards his defenses.

I agree, lightning strike the east most AD. Consider using 1-2 minions to take out each army camp at 9 oclock and 12 oclock before deploying your dragons along the top left side. Looks like you can drop the minions outside the range of defending buildings to get to the army camps. Removing the 2 army camps and then triggering the defending CC units should draw the dragons towards the center near the remaining 2 ADs.

Recommended army:

9 dragons

10 minions

CC filled with dragon/air troops

I dunno. I haven't looked, but if there is a TH8 base that can't fall to L4 hogs I haven't seen it. I have an abundance of DE right now and intend to use it for this war.

19 and 20 are both anti-hog bases. If you want a good example of failing against an anti-hog base, watch my attack last war on #16. I tried to drop in 4 spots one after another going around the base, thinking the ones ahead would kill off the tower and the middle ones would go in, but it was dumb. I should have dropped on the outside points first, then on the inside points only after those were dead, so the hogs would go in.

In any event, both 19 and 20 look to me like better bases to hit with L3 dragons, than with L4 hogs.

 
Would anyone mind critiquing this base layout for me? It's for TH9, regular non-war base. My main focus is protecting my storages, with DE most important, then gold then elixir. I think if you click the "Modify Layout" button it'll load up a copy for you that's bigger and easier to look at. There's a little swivel arrow button that will change between top down view and the more in-game view.

20 has a pretty exposed archer tower that could be used to suck out cc with a balloon and probably survive long enough to suck out even all arch.

Looks good Greg, one suggestion if you're main priority is to protect DE then move that dead center instead of your CC in the center. Having DE storage on one side of the base makes it MUCH easier to loot, especially if the attacker is only focused on DE. I have my non war base set up this way as well.

I've had my base both ways (DE center or CC center) and from my experience there are many times the attacker gets close to the center but doesnt make it, it is much more likely to hit one side of my base and still reach the DE storage if it's not centered. On the flip side when attacking I find DE centered storages much harder to reach compared to DE storages off center.

NE archer? That one is covered by the NW archer as well it looks like...
Not right away. You'd have maybe 5 seconds to suck out.

better suck out might be the archer at 6 oclock with a single hog. Or send 4 hogs in smlite style, because, well why not.

drags on 19 with all 11 at 6 oclock would probably crush that base with heals or 3x light on the 12 oclock aa

Most of our top 5 seem contractually obligated to not attack in first 12 hours. It's part of the union you get in when you are TH10.
