Classy way to say good game? (1 Viewer)

Fellow FBG - I was super fortunate to pull out a championship victory last evening behind CJ Anderson. Sparing you all the details, it was highly improbable for me to come from behind and win. To add salt to my opponents wound, the same thing happened 4 years ago in the Championship game between us.

After that 2 point victory in 2010, I bought my opponent a very large bottle of whiskey. He was appreciative but bummed he had lost.

This time, I would like a classy way to say good game and bad luck. Any ideas out there?

Tell him that 4 years from now you'll buy him another bottle of whiskey.

Dude it's fantasy football. You rub his nose in #### for losing and point out how dominating you were to the rest of the league as well.

I see nothing wrong with another bottle of whiskey. It shows graciousness and respect. But take a picture of the bottle first and give it to him at the draft next year...tell him you've pre-bought it for him for this year.

FF and classy? You were no more fortunate than your opponent was in building a lead. It is a game of luck..Take the win and celebrate your good luck.

I won my league because Manning threw 4 INTs and we have -3 for picks. I was losing by 2 with Denver driving and Manning threw that last pick that won me the game..right away I texted my buddy I was playing with a woooo hooooo!!!

About 20 years ago I had the first pick and my buddy had the 2nd pick... I took Emmitt Smith, he took S. Young and told me I was crazy for passing on Young. On opening weekend we played each other, Young had a big day and going into the Monday night game he held a decent lead but Emmitt was playing the NYG. He was talking #### all day. On the first series Emmitt scores a TD on a long run... I immediately called him (no cell phones back then) even though I was still trailing in the game. Emmitt scored a 2nd TD which made me win the game so I called him again. When Emmitt scored his 3rd TD of the game he never answered my call. Emmitt scored a 4th TD and didn't even bother to call at that point

Send him a picture of you in a tuxedo holding the door open for a beautiful woman in an evening gown.

Sorry Rounders. As you may be noting, this isn't the best crowd from which to elicit ideas on the classy handling of ... well ... anything. 20 responses later, your action 4 years ago remains as classy as anything the rest of us can offer. I'll toss out a gift certificate for dinner at a great restaurant for him and his family, with a note that he has at least won the right too now enjoy more time with them (until next year)?

But ultimately, I don't think the pool is at its best with class and grace.

Thanks Catbird.

Kind of the reason why I don't hang around here much, not much helpful information to be found anymore.

I think that I will stick to my idea of getting him a nice bottle of whiskey. Guess I believe in what goes around comes around.

This man understands why we play fantasy football...

you tell him CJ had however many points you needed locked up the whole time and you weren't ever worried. He never stood a chance - and you are the smartest man ever for picking the lineup you did. (Had a lottttt of fun gloating the Asiata pickup and start after winning my championship game..)

Seriously, why are you trying to do anything at all.

You won. Why should you have to do anything for anyone?

Do you give people their money back on bad beats too?
Haha, no.

Look - it's not like I'm giving the guy back his entry fee. I was just looking for a nice way to say, "tough one bro". I don't have to do anything for the guy. I could just be a giant j@ck### and really rub it in, I'm choosing to go a different route. My league has being going strong for 20+ years and made up of all good HS buddies. I've known the guy for a long time.

There's nothing wrong with this. I think it's a cool thing to do. (But I'd go with a bottle of Dubra vodka, you know, just because he lost and all… ;) )

Good on you, Rounders. Karma and class. Nothing wrong with either.

I wish I had a good idea for you, but nothing comes to mind.

Send him a bottle of whisky that has only a quarter left.

Tell him you bought it on Wed anticipating an easy victory over his weak team...then when it looked bleak you cracked it open.

Since your team made a miraculous comeback he was deserving to recieve what was left.

Give him a handy, call it a day.

I'd rather hear all the #### talk in the world than get a bottle of alcohol. I can ignore emails and calls, delete texts, tune out the smack talk, etc but that bottle is just going to sit there staring at me, as I wish it was a trophy instead of a patronizing piece of glass.

When I win I am quiet as a church mouse, when I lose I congratulate the victor. Hell this year I just flat out got outcoached. Dude started Torrey Smith who was like his WR5 on a hunch that paid off. Dude snagged Jeremy Hill one round of head of me before I could handcuff my Gio Bernard. Usually when I lose I blame it on luck, this year is different - he schooled me.

Just got to the bar and pickup the tab. I'd much rather spend time out with a friend than to get a bottle of whiskey. I played my brother in the championship game of my local league that's been around for years. Our game came down to Monday night. We went out and got drunk with the winner picking up the check. It was a lot of fun.
